Welcome! I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Los Angeles. I specialize in helping individuals and couples impacted by depression, anxiety, relationship conflicts and PTSD. As a person who has also struggled with life's ups and downs, I know it can be difficult to navigate through challenges. I don't see myself as just providing therapy to clients but rather joining their healing journey.
As a Marriage & Family Therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life.
Hello. My name is Aliyah, and I am looking to work with clients who would like to empower themselves through honoring their culture, gender expression, and neurodiversity. As a person of color with a beautifully diverse brain, I understand the difficulties that many humans face in accepting the reality around them and finding their place. I would love to walk that journey alongside you until you feel ready to do it on your own again. Thank you for reading, and I look forward to connecting with you.
I am so happy you found my page. Therapy is a beautiful place to start healing and working on goals that you have probably been wanting to work on for some time. I work with clients from a humanistic and client-centered lens, making sure they feel supported, respected, and heard. I am passionate about working with teenagers, young adults, and adults around a variety of challenges, specifically self-esteem, relationships, anxiety, and depression.
Navigating life in this generation is challenging for most people. Social media, societal views, pressure from family and friends; all things that have the possibility to break down our self-esteem and cause us to disconnect with our authentic self. My goal as a therapist is to assist my clients with identifying their perceived flaws and reframing their thoughts to recognize that these “flaws” can actually allow us to embrace all of our biggest strengths, and increase self-esteem. I support clients with re-connecting with their authentic self so that they can feel better in their skin.
Seeking for emotional support can be intimidating. It may especially be difficult if you are coming from a culture where addressing mental illness is still stigmatized and can be perceived as “bringing shame to the family”. As a Filipino American, I want to help transform the view of psychotherapy in my community (as well as in other communities). I want to be able to assure individuals that it is alright to reach out to a professional to share what they are going through. To encourage the utilization of such resources in able to feel more empowered.
You may be feeling confused or lost, and are searching for answers and ways to manage what you are experiencing right now. You are hoping to find someone that can create a safe space to process your thoughts and feelings. Someone that may help you feel less alone and accompany you in your journey towards finding answers. The sadness, worries, fears, and hopelessness may seem so daunting and you feel like there is no end in sight. You are here because you are ready to address these and the impact they have on your relationship with yourself, partner, child, or family.
Hi there! With COVID-19 and everything happening in the world right now, life may be very overwhelming, leading us to feel isolated, anxious, depressed, stuck, and helpless. I am here to help you navigate through these life challenges, find a healthy balance, and help you find tools to cope and grow. I help children, teens, adults, and families transform their grief, traumatic experiences, anxiety, depression, and other overwhelming emotions into healing and hope.
Imagine waking up with more confidence to handle whatever the day brings! So, what are your days bringing you? Perhaps you’re tired, stuck, bitter, or anxious. Are tough decisions causing you distress? Ever catch yourself thinking, “I’m not where I thought I’d be in life” or “I’m not who I want to be”? Does time and effort spent serving others or caring for your family leave you exhausted and overextended? Have emotional, physical, or spiritual tolls left you feeling out of control?
I have adopted a solution-focused approach in my practice and I aim to help each client reach their full potential. I have more than 15 years of experience working with children and families in different settings and 8 years working with clients in recovery. I hold a safe space for everyone to explore and process areas that bring challenges, discomfort, and fluctuating emotions. I believe that a lot can be achieved during therapy, but the real work continues between sessions.
I want to applaud you for the courageous act of saying “Yes” to yourself by seeking out professional support. While this can be a necessary step in the journey towards healing, I recognize for many of us, it can be an intimidating ( and even scary) step, to say the least. Whether it's the feeling of anxiety overtaking you, depression debilitating you, or just the stresses of life overwhelming you, you are not alone! My hope is to create a safe space for your emotional pain and help you not only get "unstuck", but to explore together how you got derailed in the first place.
Do you feel overwhelmed, stressed, and burned out because of your life challenges? You may feel frustrated and helpless when you try to cope with different issues by yourself. I can help. Together, we will find a way to better understand the issues, process all your emotions in a safe place, and find best ways to manage them. I take great joy and pleasure witnessing you achieving your best self. Having extensive experience with children to older adults in individual, group, and family therapy settings, I love to work with people who are seeking to heal from deeply rooted emotional pain and unresolved issues.
I received my Bachelors in History from Jefferson and Washington College. I then received my Master's of Social Work from the University of California in Fresno. I have continued my growth and education with numerous workshops and trainings including biofeedback and stress management. I began my career as a Psychiatric Social Worker in the USAF and left with the rank of Captain. I worked with active duty, military families, and retirees. I continued my growth and work in the area of mental health. I worked most recently at Kaiser, Solano County and The California Dept. of Mental Health.
If you find yourself in a codependent relationship with either a partner, friend, or family member, it’s time to seek help. Codependent relationships are often a result of unresolved trauma. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to process your experiences. We’ll dig deep and get “real.” My approach is collaborative and depth-oriented – I don’t just sit back and nod and smile. I’ll go deep with you and empower you to create healthy boundaries in relationships that will ultimately increase your confidence and allow you to live the life you want to live, free of people-pleasing.
