Welcome to my page and congratulations on taking the next step. As we all know, life brings us different experiences and stressors. Such stressors can affect how we function at work, school, within our relationships and within our selves. Allow me to work with you during this time of difficulty. My therapeutic style is tailored to the individual and their strengths while using the following approaches: strength based, solution focus, and mindfulness. I truly believe that with the right coaching, processing and guidance, we are able to overcome many of our life stressors.
Hello and welcome, My name is Lisa Barker and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 14 years of experience working with diverse populations. I am licensed in both California and Nevada. My therapy style is warm, engaging and collaborative. I support my clients in feeling safe and comfortable so they may gain insight into the issues that are presenting.
What's important to know about me is that I am a highly trained and experienced couples therapist. Most therapists have a course or two before and/or after graduate school. With over 40 years in practice, the last 16 years have been devoted to training and certification in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples. and Individuals. While couples therapy usually refers to romantic partners, EFT is effective in repairing hurts and conflicts between family members and friends as well. EFT is an exceptionally well researched and empirically validated treatment for distressed couples.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and have over a decade of experience providing mental health services to children, adolescents, adults and families. I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from California State University, San Bernardino and my Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling from California Baptist University.
As a therapist I believe transformation is a life long skill that can be a terrifying, thrilling and an empowering process. I try my best to provide a safe environment for my clients and to join them where they are, on their own unique process to better themselves. When an individual is allowed to speak freely, it promotes acceptance, understanding one’s own values/ beliefs and allows growth. As a client centered therapist it is my commitment to offer authenticity, collaboration and an empathetic approach to one's individual journey. It is a honor and privilege to provide an encouraging and positive therapeutic experience
Worried? Sad? Suffering loss? Would you like some tools? My name is Jackie and I'd like to help you help yourself feel better. I primarily work with people who have mood disorders such as anxiety, depression and bipolar. I particularly enjoy opening my door to parents of Children with Special Needs and life threatening illnesses. It's my desire to provide a safe place to explore the myriad of feelings and challenges that come from having a child that is atypical. I also have lots of experience working with sexual difference. I help many to navigate and understand their unique sexual fetishes and alternative sexual lifestyles.
Creating a rich and meaningful life in the 21st century is more complicated now than ever. Sometimes, personal, work, and family responsibilities are difficult to manage in spite of our best intentions. Stress takes its toll on individuals, couples, and families. Mental and physical health deteriorates, relationships suffer or fall apart, and dreams, once vibrant and alive, fade like an aged photograph. Yet, even an old photograph holds memories of previous dreams, however dim, and can provide the impetus for a hopeful future. I can help you create your future by resolving the past and living in the present.
Life's everyday problems can cause stress, anxiety, confusion and a feeling of hopelessness and similar conditions increasingly lead to physical and emotional disorders that often lead to difficulties in relating to others and even to oneself.

In the 20+ years I've been a therapist, I've learned that no two situations are the same. Therefore, I don't profess to have all the answers, but I'm very good at finding answers. I value getting to know people and finding out what has worked and what isn't working and then finding answers together.

We seek help when our challenges outstrip our ability to cope. My role as a therapist is to guide, support, and facilitate exploring new tools that will improve the clients' functioning skills in society. My professional facilitation supports clients who feel that they are at a crossroad in their lives and recognize that they need to gain new tools and the empowerment necessary to make changes.
I am passionate about helping parents and their children (of any age), live happy and fulfilling lives. Because no two children are alike, I use a variety of therapeutic approaches that have been scientifically proven to help treat specific problems. The main focus of my practice is helping the child and parent(s) gain the necessary insights and skills to be successful with handling various life challenges in the home, school, and community. Interventions with children are presented in individual, group, and/or family settings.
I authored the book, "Attachment-Based Strategies to Improve Self-Esteem..." in 2013. I am here for you and your family to achieve positive results and feel better quickly so that you can continue to have the relationships in your life that you desire and also need.
We do not seek a therapist because we are crazy, sick or broken; we seek help when our challenges outstrip our ability to cope. You may want to change, but feel locked into old behaviors and patterns. In therapy, you take a journey into yourself. I serve as a guide, pointing out areas of interest; highlighting new perspectives and helping you make your own choices along the way. I help carry the burden until you are strong enough to carry it yourself or discover that there is no burden left.
Seeking a trusted therapist who best meets your needs can feel risky and requires courage, especially in the midst of life challenges that feel confusing or overwhelming. Burnout might affect your ability to function at your best. You may be experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, chronic stress, or health-related concerns. You might be trying to cope with some type of disability, memory, mild traumatic brain injury, dementia, or other cognitive problems in yourself or in a loved one. More commonly, one or more of your relationships may feel strained and a fresh perspective could be helpful.
Do you ever think, "why is it so hard to get along?" Do you wonder why love doesn't seem to be enough to stop the fighting? Do you end up fighting and arguing when you're just trying to discuss things? Do you ever wonder why you just can't seem to understand each other? Do you wake up in the middle of the night thinking, "I can't do this anymore! I hate this! Why is this relationship so hard?!? There must be a better way!"
I work with adults treating a variety of life issues, barriers, feelings, and obstacles, such as: anxiety, depression, life changes or challenges, parenting, relationship issues, problems at work, first time mom, changes in career, divorce, life transitions, achieving goals, and finding motivation.
Looking for someone to help you get relief from life's stressors and being overwhelmed? When you are feeling challenged by the day-to-day conflicts that disrupt your routine; you do not have to face it alone. Make the call and have a conversation about what you need and discuss what is possible in your life. Getting support and finding a compassionate clinician who will help you get to the core issues that seep into your relationships and existence is the next step toward regaining your life balance.
