Do you wonder why you have a big reaction to the small things in life? Seeking therapy, whether for the first time or the tenth time, takes courage and strength. I have heard from clients that even with cognitive insight they have remained stuck in distressing feelings/situations. I strongly believe that living coping skill to coping skill is not a viable long-term solution. Through personal experience, I have ascertained that knowledge of the root cause to a reaction or behavior is paramount to healing. I will not see you as a compilation of symptoms or a diagnosis, but rather as a person with needs that you are trying to get met.
At A Step in the Right Direction Intensive Outpatient Treatment Center our commitment is to help individuals recover from alcohol, substance abuse, trauma, and co-occurring disorders so that they may live balanced and productive lives. Individuals seeking recovery learn about addiction, triggers, and thought processes which allow for healing and hope as each individual begins to uncover, discover, and recover.

I do not believe that a person struggling with their mental health is broken in any way in need of fixing, but rather needs warmth and acceptance that starts from within.
