Research shows that the number one predictor to therapeutic success is the
relationship
you have with your therapist; I pride myself on providing a therapy space that is centered around you, supported by evidence based treatments (like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy), racial and ethnic inclusivity, and a "whole person" approach.
Hi, there. I know you've been searching for the right therapist, and I know it's frustrating to try to find someone you connect with. Whatever brings you here, I understand that trying to "have it all" in today's world is a goal that feels unachievable. Whether you have been feeling overwhelmed with worrying thoughts, not feeling like yourself, are grieving, going through a major transition, or want to work on your relationships with yourself and others, I believe we can make sense of it all together. You do not need to have all the answers all alone.

Through a nurturing/reparative
relationship
, I help you navigate the tedious healing process.
Do you wonder why you have a big reaction to the small things in life? Seeking therapy, whether for the first time or the tenth time, takes courage and strength. I have heard from clients that even with cognitive insight they have remained stuck in distressing feelings/situations. I strongly believe that living coping skill to coping skill is not a viable long-term solution. Through personal experience, I have ascertained that knowledge of the root cause to a reaction or behavior is paramount to healing. I will not see you as a compilation of symptoms or a diagnosis, but rather as a person with needs that you are trying to get met.

If living through a global pandemic has proven anything, it’s that life throws us curveballs and isn’t always easy. Whether it’s anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, grief,
relationship
difficulties, interpersonal conflicts, struggles with your identity or faith, dissatisfaction with your career, low self-esteem, or any other challenge, I’m here to provide support and guide you in processing and navigating these experiences within a safe space free of judgement. I do not believe that a person struggling with their mental health is broken in any way in need of fixing, but rather needs warmth and acceptance that starts from within.

Making the choice to start therapy can be intimidating, but taking the steps to care for yourself and your mental health shows that you are ready for some change. In order for this change to develop, I place immense value on the importance of the therapeutic
relationship
and provide a safe space for clients to feel understood, challenged and empowered without feeling judged. I want all of my clients to feel as though therapy is a safe place to vent, laugh, cry, gain insight, and grow as in individual.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
