I incorporate art therapy for both creatively-inclined and artistically-inexperienced individuals in addition to mindfulness-based practices, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and psychodynamic approaches to help clients rediscover their potential, increase insight into problematic patterns, gain access to supportive resources, and establish long-lasting habits that promote self awareness and growth.
I enjoy working interpersonally through the group process. Group can be healing and affirming and is a highly effective form of treatment that provides a space for meaningful contact with others in order to address personal, relational, and societal issues. I also offer a training/consultation group for those seeking certification as art therapists (ATR).

Nurturing, strength-based and compassionate, I am an active and directive participant in my clients' work- whether working with individuals or with a couple . We together will identify what brings you to treatment, be it depression, anxiety, PTSD, marital distress, or simply discomfort. We will articulate where in your life you are struggling- interpersonally, at work, within your family system or in your marriage, and develop goals to relieve that distress. It can be challenging to choose to participate in therapy, and I work to create a safe environment so we can engage and address the issues that are challenging you.

You spend your days endlessly and painfully obsessing over what you did or didn't eat, how much you did or didn't exercise, or how uncomfortable you feel in your body. Thoughts of food and body have completely taken over your life and you are at a place where you feel powerless and completely out of control. You have tried time and time again to "get it under control," but you are lost. You are anxious, depressed, and truly do not know what to do. This place you are in is so painful, chaotic, and confusing. I get it - I have been there, and I can help.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
