My clients are typically looking to resolve issues related to anxiety, stress, trauma , insomnia, depression, or relationship issues. Some clients also work on spiritual searching and exploring meaning in life. Sessions can focus on finding one’s purpose. Working with me often involves finding joy and humor again in life. Clients also learn practical skills they take with them, such as meditation and relaxation techniques, and ways of managing the mind’s scattered distractions and critical, negative thoughts. I can also teach physical meditative movements.

I like working with clients struggling with OCD, eating disorders, trauma , anxiety and depression.
Let’s not waste any more time being unhappy, unfulfilled, and stuck. To thrive as people, we need to recognize our values and goals. Those values and goals change throughout time, as we age. Change is constant. That makes a lot of people uncomfortable. But it’s time to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Being uncomfortable means you’re growing. Being uncomfortable means you’re challenging yourself. And before we get too far, I am not talking about inappropriate discomfort. I will teach you the difference. If you are too afraid of change, to embrace change, I probably will not be the right fit for you as a therapist.

My professional interests and expertise are in the area of psychological trauma , sexual abuse, loss and dealing with chronic anxiety and depression.
Many of our experiences have come from a place of great suffering and fear. Often, this entails having survived harsh challenges and as a result, pieces of our personal stories may be missing, either because they are forgotten or too painful to talk about. Restoring one's personal history can prove to be invaluable in healing pain. It can our connect past, future and the present, forming continuity and reviving hope. My desire as a therapist is to provide assistance and encouragement for every one of my clients in exploring these personal stories as a way of coping with pain and finding meaning.

You are not the problem; the problem is the problem. Problems may tell you a story of shame, pain, anxiety, depression, trauma , loss, or feelings of inadequacy. There is a path out of that story, toward healing. Reclaiming yourself and creating space from these problems sets the stage for you to take your power back. Seeking therapy can be a challenging process—from giving yourself permission to begin, to finding the right therapist once you do.

I use a trauma -focused attachment based modality to help you uncover your past childhood wounds, make sense of them in the present, and begin to create new neural pathways that feel most aligned to who you are truly meant to be.
Childhood is the single most important predictor of well being in human development. Many of us have buried painful memories into our subconscious. By approaching the issues holistically, we will help you live the life you deserve and want. Wellness, in its literal definition means a healthy balance of the mind, body and spirit. My role as a therapist is to guide you toward finding that balance and connection to self. We will explore how your thoughts, emotions, body, childhood experiences, relationships, and current environment are contributing to your distress and healing.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
