INTERRACIAL COUPLES…. Culturally diverse factors may exist but the underlining issues threatening your happiness are the same as any other relationship. Emotional detachment leaving you feeling isolated and disconnected when there has been a shift in focus to career, friends, children, hobbies or social activities. Your partner fails to express gratitude or appreciation for the contribution you make to the relationship leaving you agitated and bitter. Sensing a loss of sexual intimacy or struggling with physical affection. Toxic Masculinity or Femininity may have left you defenseless against verbal or physical abuse.

It’s easy to get lost in the midst of your overwhelm. Trying to manage everything for yourself and your family has you feeling tense and stressed and everything in between. It’s just hard to maintain that level of output. If you’re feeling like this, we should talk. Your needs and your sanity matter. Sometimes it’s hard to justify putting yourself first because it takes more work.

I know how it feels to be stuck in pain, and I know how amazing and life changing it feels to find a way out. I believe that this process is what builds beautiful, strong resilient people. I help people on that path. I believe that involves processing past pain, and then using spirituality, nature, movement, art, music and human connections to pursue the values and passions you discovered on your journey. I also enjoy helping couples and families learn skills that enable them to connect, understand each other and work together.

Congratulations on taking the first step toward emotional healing and reclaiming your inner power. There is a misconception that something is wrong with us if we need therapy. But the truth is that humans need other humans; we thrive in community and support. Therapy is a place to find support, to go inward and connect with yourself. My framework of practice is eclectic, using CBT, trauma-focused and culturally sensitive interventions, mindfulness and a systems approach—together we can find a more hopeful future & start living more fully in the present moment as you regain agency in your life.

Being a people pleaser is hard. It’s hard to say ‘no’, it’s hard to feel resentful when you overextend yourself, it’s hard to be so consumed with others that you feel out of touch with yourself and your own needs. It would be so nice (yet feels so out of reach) to just sit down, relax, and feel comfortable in your own skin. No t-do list nagging at you, able to let your shoulders comfortably relax away from being bunched up by your ears.

Fred Rogers said, “It’s the people we love the most who can make us feel the gladdest… and the maddest! Love and anger are such a puzzle! It’s hard for us, as adults, to understand and manage our angry feelings toward parents, spouses, and children, or to keep their anger toward us in perspective. It’s a different kind of anger from the kind we may feel toward strangers because it is so deeply intertwined with caring and attachment.” Does this statement resonate with you? If so, you are not alone.

Now offering virtual and in person sessions! Everyone needs someone to hear them. I am here to lend an ear, be present when life gets tough, and be a support in finding solutions to your problems. Life can be confusing and stressful and we all need a helping hand in becoming the best version of ourselves. My practice consists of working with teenage and adult individuals that want to become stronger, feel better about themselves, and want to move past their past. I truly believe that our past holds us hostage and prevents us from being in, and enjoying, the present moments in life.

Through a unique approach, I work with children, teenagers, and adults to develop their sense of selves, decrease stress, and establish rewarding relationships. Want to be a power couple? I can show you how. In the past 10 years of my practice, I have seen many couples. I can’t say I’ve seen it all, but I have seen A LOT. Some fight explosively, triggered easily by a snide comment or an exaggerated exhale from their spouse. Others never fight but the distance between them is palpable minute they walk in the room and sit on opposite sides of my couch. However, one thing they all had in common is suffering due to a lack of connection and belonging. Humans are all wired for love and relationship, but unfortunately some never learn the skillsets necessary to be successful at partnership.

YOUR ANXIETY IS THROUGH THE ROOF, yet there are people in your life counting on you. Wearing the mask of calmness, doing a fantastic job taking care of everybody. Knowing you are spread too thin. Wondering, "How is it that others seem to get more done in the same amount of hours?" You appear to be like those around you, yet you're exhausted and overwhelmed by the stress of it all. It's time to find ways to feel lighter, to lift the weight on your. soul. The time has come to take care of yourself. To fulfill the dreams and the goals that live in your heart.

How can I find a therapist in Newport Beach?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
