I utilize evidence-based approaches in my work with children, adolescents, adults, and couples/families, drawing upon techniques originating in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (including exposure-based therapies), Emotion-Focused Therapy, and
attachment-based
approaches to therapy (including those involving mentalization). I specialize in anxiety, trauma, eating/weight, or relationship issues, and adopt an individualized, culturally sensitive approach with each client. I view therapy as an opportunity for the client to share, to learn, and to grow through a close connection.

Welcome! I am a psychotherapist striving to deliver high-quality therapy that is holistic and tailored to you. My priority is providing a safe and comfortable therapeutic relationship. This foundation is the groundwork that allows my clients to take risks in therapy and discuss what is really getting in the way of the life they want to lead. Therapy with me means going beyond the surface of thoughts and behaviors to access underlying emotions that are often at the root of feeling stuck. As an
attachment-based
therapist, I help my clients explore their relationships and their emotional and behavioral patterns.

Childhood is the single most important predictor of well being in human development. Many of us have buried painful memories into our subconscious. By approaching the issues holistically, we will help you live the life you deserve and want. Wellness, in its literal definition means a healthy balance of the mind, body and spirit. My role as a therapist is to guide you toward finding that balance and connection to self. We will explore how your thoughts, emotions, body, childhood experiences, relationships, and current environment are contributing to your distress and healing.

You may be successful, but you aren't as fulfilled in your life as you want to be. Most of my clients struggle with emotional intimacy, anxiety, existential dread, or a combination of these issues. Many have also been to therapy before, but they want more depth and less surface-level coping skills. If this speaks to you, there's a good chance you already know what you "should" be doing, and you want introspective awareness of what's really stopping you from changing. You're a busy professional who functions well, but all your successes haven't healed that inner void of loneliness, fear, or shame. It's time for something different.

There are seasons in our lives that may feel particularly overwhelming and isolating. It can often feel as if we are going through these things alone. You don’t have to. My goal is to support you through those difficult times and work together to accomplish the change you want to see in your life. Therapy looks different for everyone. For some it is a lifelong journey, and for others it is accepting support in a critical time of need.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
