Being a
woman
today can mean living with a lot of insecurity and anxiety. You want to appear successful and put together, but deep down you are struggling to figure out who you are, cope with the chaos in your life, and work through a difficult past. The pressures of everyday life fill you with constant overwhelm, relationships feel distant and stressful, and your energy reserves have been depleted. You can hold it together and make it through the day, but by the time you get home you are exhausted. Cooking, dinner, socialization, and parenting seem like impossible tasks.

women
& couples who want to integrate Bible & prayer into our work.
Anxiety pursues you. You feel weird, misunderstood & tired. You're living a double life. You've been told that you're "Too sensitive" and "Too much." And even with this, you're the
woman
everyone goes to for help. But you struggle to ask for support or be your full self with others- You're lonely & anxious. On the outside you have a great career, and you're perfectly put together, but you don't know how to stop people pleasing and perfectionism. You've prayed, read books and journaled, but you're feeling desperate. You need help NOW. You have too much on your plate.

Are you a
woman
that has done everything expected and more, but it never feels like enough, and your life is far from what you envisioned? Everyone thinks that you have it all together, but internally you feel undeserving of the life you have built. You realize that you have given everything to your relationships, but because they are one sided you struggle with resentment. You know that you want to do things differently and be different, but you are unsure of what that even looks like. It is possible for you to cultivate a life you genuinely love, with the people that matter the most, by gaining a deeper sense of who you are.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
