I specialize in EMDR and am trained to work with trauma, abuse, PTSD as well addictions and compulsions.
I'm not in the business of instigating change. I am in the delicate and complex work of empowering it. Because I believe you have the wisdom to bring about change. Because change is your work and your choice; my role is to set the stage, empty it, illuminate what stands in the way and explore with you the possibilities for change. Ultimately you decide. The fact that you're here already ensures it. My job is to notice your process, reflect and honor it. In this space, I have seen amazing change happen.

It may not feel like it right now, but change is possible. Through therapy, you can become aware of the unconscious decisions you are making each day that are unknowingly shaping your life. You may find that the unhelpful decisions all center around patterns meant to keep you safe. Together, we can work on increasing your sense of security and recognizing which patterns are no longer working. I am trained in EMDR , Internal Family Systems Therapy, and Sensorimotor Therapy. These modalities can aid you in going deeper and effectively processing the patterns and traumas that are keeping you stuck.

I am trained in EMDR , and have spent significant time studying the connection between the mind and body through lens of Interpersonal Neurobiology, Polyvagal Theory, and other somatic oriented treatments.
I have been helping men, women, and teens work through a variety of mental health concerns for the last 14 years, with a specialized focus in working with trauma and addictions. Creating space for curiosity and compassion towards parts of ourselves that have been helping us cope, I love the opportunity to help people pay attention to their experience in new ways and find freedom from the things that have kept them feeling stuck.

Whether your "if only" is your relationship, finances, career, kids, health or past hurts EMDR undoes the frozen negative beliefs in a powerful way that is different than talk therapy & often expedites your results.
You know how most smart, accomplished professionals have a lot going right in their lives but there is this one "if only" part of their lives that keeps them up at night. They are feeling worried, frustrated & anxious. And they are such wonderful people that you just wish they could have what they want. Maybe this feels familiar & you can relate to wanting something to be different so badly. But for some reason it just doesn't seem to change. This is when we feel disconnected from our most powerful, carefree selves & we're not sure how to find relief.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
