We have all experienced difficult transitions in our lives which create feelings of anxiety, fear, loneliness, anger or sadness. Developing new ways of coping, or new ways of looking at values and beliefs, can help us transcend these feelings and create new opportunities for peace and meaning in our lives. I am compassionate and nonjudgmental, with an informal and interactive style. I am interested in your spiritual framework as it may pertain to values and beliefs which are helpful or harmful, and I often use humor as a means to maintain safety and balance in our work together.

Looking for a therapist who isn't so "therapisty"? You've come to the right place. Sometimes life gets out of hand and you need someone neutral who understands. Maybe you've taken on your family's/ partner's/ friends' problems and are now drowning in overwhelm. Maybe your school or work life isn't what you imagined it would be. Maybe you've taken to some coping skills that you know might not be the best for you in the long run (hello, doomscroll). Whatever your situation, I get that life can be complicated, messy, and sometimes absolute (4-letter word here). I can help!

I specialize in working with anxiety, perfectionism, and trauma with women from preconception to pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood.
Are you carrying the weight of anxiety, guilt, or fear in motherhood? Maybe you're pregnant and overwhelmed by constant ‘what ifs,’ struggling in postpartum with exhaustion and an endless mental load, or facing infertility and feeling like your body has betrayed you. Or perhaps you're caring for a medically complex child, always bracing for the next emergency, never able to fully exhale. You never thought this would be your path to motherhood. You’ve had to be strong for so long—pushing through, holding it together, running on empty. Your body and mind have been in overdrive for so long that slowing down feels impossible.

The couples I see are smart and successful. Your friends think you have it all...but you can’t stop arguing. You worry that your fights are hurting the kids. You’re stuck in a cycle where the resentments run deep. I help couples just like you to stop fighting, start talking, and get on with living happily ever after.

As a certified EMDR therapist and perinatal mental health specialist, I use holistic, mind-body, nervous system-focused techniques to help anxious women and pregnant/postpartum parents heal from trauma, release anxiety, and feel calm and confident in their daily lives.
Expecting, birthing, or parenting a baby brings the underlying "stuff" to the surface. You might be noticing tensed muscles, an aching head, an upset stomach, or racing thoughts about the most awful things that have happened (or that COULD happen). Maybe you feel exhausted and drained all throughout the day but lie awake at night with your heart pounding, too anxious to fall asleep. Maybe you're yearning to bond with your little one but feeling like you're blocked by a wall - too overwhelmed, too worried, too tangled up in the scary thoughts, and in too much pain to be present. But this chapter doesn't have to be written this way!

I often help young women who are feeling shy, anxious, obsessive, depressed, struggling with perfectionism or life transitions.
I individualize treatment, weaving Relational, Jungian, and Expressive Arts Therapy with CBT, DBT and ACT based on your needs. My goal is always to improve quality of life. This often involves revealing and transforming the unconscious motivations, thoughts, and behavior patterns that trap us, or keep us from reaching our full potential.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
