I work with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship, and family issues. I use the compassion I developed through my broad professional experience to help my clients accept and work through deep emotions as a part of living. My ultimate goal for my clients is to help them live authentically by tapping into their personal meaning so they can be who they are, and not a version of who others may want them to be.

Are you anxious, depressed and tired? Are you feeling emotional for no reason? Feeling disoriented and lonely? Questioning everything in your life? I help people to deeply listen inside and let their choices be based on what is true for them. While pain and emotions are part of being human, suffering can be minimized by allowing what is inside of us to be expressed and find acceptance in our experiences. I support you to move through trauma, anxiety, anger and depression to empowerment. Stress-management is part of the work and looking at communication with ourselves and others to have fulfilling relationships.

I have 15 years of experience as an oncology massage therapist supporting adults living with cancer in an integrative cancer care setting.
We deserve to be heard, to have rich, meaningful connections, and to experience joy even in the face of our struggles. Clients I work with long, amid life's curveballs and losses, to find calm within themselves and their relationships. Over time, they learn to recognize their humanity in imperfection and that self-compassion is vital to their inner peace, no matter the depth of pain their story holds.

Transitions leave us stuck, spinning, or rushing past endings we never processed. I help you slow down and meet what's happening in your body and mind with genuine curiosity, not fluffy positivity. Drawing on existential-humanism, somatic tools, and Buddhist philosophy, we'll access your inner wisdom to navigate change without spiritual bypassing. Expect compassionate directness and real work that supports the messy, beautiful process of becoming. Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is also provided; ask me about it in our consult. Atheists and non-Buddhists are welcomed and honored.

As a psychologist and former cancer patient, I offer an immediate connection of hope and understanding during diagnosis, active/post treatment phases.
Life is tough for all of us. Careers, families, relationships, health; what brings joy can also cause stress. Whether it feels like a crisis or a long standing issue that isn't getting better, therapy can help address your difficulties. These may include marriage/family conflicts, excess worry/stress, lack of motivation, career dissatisfaction, to name just a few. For young people it may be worries about the future, stress from parents, drug/alcohol/food challenges. Or perhaps you are managing a life threatening illness or are a loved one's caregiver. We will work together to help relieve your pain and get to a calmer, happier you.

My ideal client is navigating profound grief, trauma, or a life change that has reshaped who they are. They may look strong on the outside, but inside the ground has shifted. They want more than coping. They want depth, integration, and forward movement. Together we honor what has been lost, metabolize pain, and build what comes next. My work is for those ready to live fully again without abandoning tenderness, meaning, or truth.

The most significant predictor of a successful therapy experience is the quality of the relationship between therapist and client. Building a safe, nurturing relationship is where I excel. My style is warm and highly interactive, best suited for clients who prefer a therapist who feels very "human." I assist clients to explore their thought patterns and corresponding emotional responses, and to identify unconscious assumptions they hold about themselves and the world, which inform behavior patterns. I also provide practical tools for regulating anxiety, managing depression, and processing grief.

How does cancer affect mental health?
A cancer diagnosis is a major life event that can significantly influence the mental health of any individual. Being diagnosed with cancer often introduces a sense of uncertainty about the future, which can cause clients to experience symptoms of anxiety, depression, and significant distress. Many cancer patients may also worry about the toll that their diagnosis may have on their family, their physical health, their job, and their financial situation. The compounding of such stressors can also decrease mental health in clients and may lead to additional symptoms that can influence mental health, such as sleeping difficulties or social withdrawal.

What is the best psychological therapy for cancer patients?
The best type of psychological therapy for cancer patients is highly dependent on the needs of the individual. The therapy type that a client benefits from may also depend on what stage of the cancer journey they are in. Recently diagnosed cancer patients, for instance, may benefit from therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which can help clients develop skills to manage the emotional distress that comes with a cancer diagnosis. Alternatively, cancer patients further along in their journey may benefit from therapies like Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) or other forms of mindfulness therapy to help manage symptoms or physical pain associated with treatment. Clients may also consider group therapy, which offers cancer patients an opportunity to receive support from other individuals dealing with a cancer diagnosis.

Are there any risks or drawbacks in going to therapy while dealing with cancer?
Although attending therapy while dealing with a cancer diagnosis can be helpful, one major concern for cancer patients can be the financial cost of seeking therapy. Many therapists are out-of-network, meaning they do not accept insurance, and thus clients are expected to pay the entirety of the session fee. Since many cancer patients may be out of work as a result of their diagnosis or cancer treatment regimen, the costs of therapy sessions can be substantial. Luckily, many cancer centers and local clinics may offer free or substantially reduced-cost counseling services to cancer patients and their families. In addition, cancer patients may be eligible for grants or other forms of funding from local agencies and nonprofits to seek therapy for their cancer diagnosis. Such opportunities can be very helpful for cancer patients, as they allow clients to obtain the benefits of therapy without the financial strain.

How long does cancer therapy typically last?
The length of cancer therapy depends on the needs of each client. In some cases, cancer patients may only require therapeutic support during the period following their initial diagnosis—to help manage the uncertainty and shock of a cancer diagnosis. In other cases, clients may choose to receive therapy throughout their treatment, and even following, their cancer journey. Pursuing therapy for a longer period of time can help clients develop a deeper relationship with their therapist and provide opportunity to process the challenges presented by cancer treatment, such as physical pain, and challenges associated with cancer survivorship, such as ongoing identity concerns, physical limitations, or relationship challenges.
