I specialize in working with individual that suffer from depression, anxiety, trauma, and maladaptive
grief
.
It is my God-given purpose and destiny to help Christians live in emotional freedom. I chose to become a Christian Therapist because of the body-soul-spirit connection. Along with this, I believe to help individuals achieve long lasting results, all three elements should be treated together in order to bring a person to wholeness. My treatment approach for helping an individual is to assist him/her with looking at symptoms through a holistic lens.

Some traumatic issues I can help with are: sexual violence, childhood abuse/neglect,
grief
, intimate partner violence, natural or man-made disasters, parental rejection, foster care system involved, bullying, war violence, severe illness or injury, witnessing the
death
of a family member or close friend, recent HIV/AIDS diagnosis, refugee experience, etc.
Are you a survivor of trauma? If so, you may be experiencing a variety of signs or symptoms. They can be subtle, obvious, and/or debilitating - lasting weeks, months, or even years. Recovering from trauma takes time and everyone heals at their own pace. Working through trauma can be scary and painful, but you do not have to go through the process alone. I am a compassionate, empathetic, and patient clinician, committed to building a trusting professional relationship with you. Together we will work to lessen the hold trauma has on your life and help you heal.

This challenging time may be creating disruption in your life as well as awakening awareness of problematic patterns and pain from the past. So often our frustrations and emotional pain are rooted in parts of ourselves of which we are largely unaware. You may feel stuck in patterns of bad relationships,
loss
of identity, or lacking meaning in life, even when you know you want to break free. You may be defined by your job or family role, but what else are you? What is missing in your life from not knowing all that you really are?

Are you flat-out stuck? Then it's time to be more decisive and take action. Feeling lost? Then it's time to make goals and create a plan to attain them. Are you in flux? Divorce, career changes and
loss
are changes not endings. If you're getting in your own way, it's time to put an end to self-destructive habits. How does unwavering support and relentless compassion sound? Maybe you've invested time looking at your past to analyze the original source of your present day challenges. And maybe now you feel ready to say, "The past is the past and it's time to let go of my history and move forward with courage, energy and excitement!"

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
