Resolving trauma is very important and my speciality when it comes to childhood, Couples, teens and children. Are you ready to be heard and address your needs in counseling instead of others directing you? I’m committed to helping people understand themselves better so that they can make constructive changes in their lives. I provide a full assessment regarding trauma history, attachment, and what interventions would be appropriate. Taking that first step takes courage, making an appointment, and meeting with a counselor. I’m have an empathic gentle style, and provide a safe environment for families, children, teens, and adults.

My work is client-centered and trauma-informed, as well as mindful of cultural and intersectional factors.
Deciding to seek support for your mental health needs can be one of the most empowering decisions you make. It can also be a challenging one- figuring out what steps to take or what to look for in a therapist. I’ve had the opportunity to support children, adolescents, and families of different backgrounds and I serve a client base with diverse mental health needs, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and PTSD.

Additionally, for the past 6 years I have been practicing as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker focusing on issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, grief, domestic violence, adjustment/life transitions, academic and relationship issues.
Regardless of the stage in our lives, in difficult times we all need help. Mental health counseling is a valuable service that many people benefit from by processing their thoughts, feelings and actions and ultimately finding solutions for their challenges. It is not easy to take the first step due to the stigma about seeking mental health services and/or self-doubt. If you or your loved one is needing extra help to navigate life’s challenges, seek help or resources to make life a bit easier.

My practice's focus is children's mental health. My various experiences in child welfare and children’s mental health have led me to realize the unique needs of this population. I have worked with children suffering from depression, anxiety, behavioral issues, trauma responses, family conflict, and situational issues. Although I work with children of all ages, I do specialize in working with very young children, under the age of 5, and have specialized training in various types of play therapy. I work with each of my clients and their families to create a tailored treatment plan that best addresses their needs.

I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist with over 18 years of experience working with a wide range issues specializing in addictions, depression, anxiety, and trauma.
The decision to seek out therapy is not always an easy one. However, finding a therapist that provides support, encouragement and techniques that can improve how you feel and function in life is worth the effort. If you are feeling overwhelmed in your relationships, work, or are experiencing low self-esteem that may cause you to use poor coping skills, take a moment and imagine yourself feeling hopeful. I am a strong believer in addressing the whole person (body, mind, soul).

I utilize various skills and interventions aimed to identify problems, thoughts, behaviors and/or past trauma which halt progression towards goals.
Welcome to Heale! Learn, Grow and Heal... Individuals have the strength and resources to meet their needs and solve their unique problems. Oftentimes, we get stuck in patterns of communication and/or behaviors which no longer meet our needs. Change occurs when individuals are provided the safety and security of expression, validation, exploring problems, underlying patterns of behaviors or unmet needs and identifying solutions. I work to empower individuals to take steps towards recovery.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
