I work with individuals, couples, and families who want to address long-term problems and patterns. It is through this kind of personal exploration that a deeper understanding can be attained and the sense-of-self can be strengthened.
A
psychodynamic
approach can go below the surface to address problems, improve personal relationships, and stop self-destructive behavior. So often, past experiences can interfere with our present lives and we find ourselves suffering through repeated ongoing pain.

My approach is attachment based, client centered &
psychodynamic
.
I believe the therapy process involves forming a relationship with someone who you can share with and trust. A third party who wont judge you, or share/gossip your most intimate secrets or life struggles with others. It's nice having friends and or family to share with, but that isn't always an option, nor is it always safe. I provide my clients with an environment free from judgement where you can let your guard down, vent, share and just be you. Therapy doesn't mean there's something wrong with you, it means you're ready to grow and better understand yourself, others and hopefully life. Isn't that what we're all striving for?

I strive to provide an inclusive feeling in my practice where everyone’s uniqueness is embraced, explored, and celebrated. I utilize a variety of modalities including
Psychodynamic
, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT, and Mindfulness. After practicing for more than 20 years what I have learned is that therapy is not one size fits all, success and progress look different for each person, everybody is doing their best always no matter what, and in the end the best predictor of treatment success is the relationship we create in our work together. If we can build a trusting relationship then the journey will be successful.

Knowing this, I will develop a safe space for you to build your own self compassion and insight by taking a more eclectic approach from various schools of thought including CBT, DBT,
psychodynamic
, family systems, trauma focused, EMDR, and more.
I strive to help individuals develop a greater relationship with themselves, improve their self confidence, and have an overall happier life. It's a privilege to share space with someone and to hear their story. For the past 10 years, I've worked in several practice settings where I've gained a working knowledge to help meet people where they're at and assist them in healing and finding freedom. I continue to develop my knowledge to assist others in processing trauma, building self esteem, and improving their life styles.

Therapy is an active collaboration and I tailor my approach to each individual using
psychodynamic
, developmental, systems and cognitive behavioral approaches.
My focus as a psychotherapist is to help each individual achieve their full potential. Whether there is a current challenge or a broader goal to create change, the biggest indicator of success in therapy is the rapport one has with their therapist. I provide a safe environment in my office, one of support, honesty, trust and free of judgment. This is essential to the therapeutic process and in the client's ability to feel safe and understood. I assist and help guide my clients in life transformations, to gain insight and to live a better, more meaningful life.

***CURRENTLY NOT ACCPETING NEW CLIENTS***Our past experiences can have a very lasting effect on our lives and unfortunately don't magically disappear once we remove ourselves from the people or environment inflicting pain. The impact of these experiences can follow us for the rest of our lives if we don't take the necessary action to release ourselves & ensure a brighter present and future. These painful experiences can cause many issues if not addressed: relationships, depression, anxiety, anger, difficulty at work, etc. The best way to help get past the pain is to talk about it in a safe environment.

We are not meant to do life alone. As a therapist, I care deeply about creating a space where people can be seen, heard, and accepted. I value the transformative power that relationships have to offer – a sense of presence in the midst of life’s difficulties, and the opportunity to discover new ways of being.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
