Has your life suffered because of trauma you have experienced?
I provide a safe environment for healing and growth. It is helpful to explore ways the past affects current problems. It is also useful to work on changing thoughts and behaviors to build new skills and new ways of thinking. I strongly believe in using a strength-based approach to help overcome challenges.

I help clients struggling with trauma, anxiety, low self-worth, and relationship challenges.
It’s hard to enjoy the present when you’re stuck in your mind. Or sleep when anxiety keeps you overthinking and replaying every possible worst-case scenario that might play out the next day… next week… next YEAR. When you think about it, you realize there’s never a moment when you’re not afraid. How could you not be… when your mind constantly races with every unpredictable, uncontrollable, uncertain, unsteady, and unknown detail that might or might not intersect with your life? And it’s more than just fear. It’s nausea, a racing heart, muscle tension, and shallow breath. Then, you freak out that you’re freaking out!

It can be common for many of us to struggle with multiple sources of stress that cause us to feel overwhelmed, anxious, and depressed. Sometimes having experienced traumatic events, unhealthy relationships, or a sense of isolation can leave us feeling disconnected and dissatisfied. Difficult life circumstances can take our feet out from under us and move us off course, taking us further away from the life we want.

I support folks who are activated or shut down - cycling in grief, trauma, and/or anxiety & depressive loops.
Something has you feeling off... You are a hardworking adult who gives it your all.  You want to feel good, connected, & supported.  But instead, it never feels good enough!  You are exhausted & overwhelmed day & night.  You find yourself constantly running on empty or on edge.  Simple tasks like scheduling and eating feel like chores. You can’t even enjoy a night out if it happens at all.  You get along with others, and so many people and communities rely on you. Yet, you feel like you don’t belong, or those you love don’t really see you. Let’s not even start with our society and world.

My approach is attachment-based and trauma-informed, drawing from EMDR, CBT, and DBT.
Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like life hasn’t turned out the way you thought it would? Maybe you’re in the middle of a big transition—becoming a parent, navigating a breakup, adjusting to a new role, or simply realizing that what used to work…doesn’t anymore. Change can stir up anxiety, self-doubt, and even grief for the versions of ourselves we’ve outgrown. You might find yourself questioning who you are or what comes next. These moments can feel isolating, but they’re also an invitation to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and begin again—with support along the way.

I work with clients from a client-centered approach which is intended to provide the safe space needed for healing. Together we will target debilitating symptoms. I work with adolescents and adults in individual and family settings. and couples seeking support in their relationship. I work with people seeking awareness on how to improve their life and support in achieving their goals. Together we will restore healthy lifestyle patterns and plan for future success. Teens, adults and couples often can suffer from the same depressive, anxious and traumatic experiences, but will need different support to heal.

Drawing from two decades of my own experience with panic, I combine somatic practices, ACT, and trauma-informed work to help you transform your relationship with fear, not just manage symptoms.
You've been living with panic attacks, anxiety, or agoraphobia for longer than you care to admit. You've tried managing it, controlling it, outsmarting it—and you've probably discovered that approach doesn't work for very long. Your world may have gotten smaller. You avoid certain situations, routes, or experiences because the fear of panic is always lurking. You're exhausted from the constant vigilance and tired of your life being shaped by what you're afraid might happen. You want real freedom, not just symptom management. You're ready to stop fighting panic and start changing your relationship with it entirely.

I provide evidence-based psychotherapy, using techniques from EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral therapy and other models to treat a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and others.
We all face challenges in our lives and sometimes need extra help and support to help us overcome them. I offer a safe, judgement-free space to explore even the most difficult matters. My style is relational and collaborative. One of the most important aspects for achieving success in therapy is the relationship between the therapist and the client. I believe that you are the expert on yourself and your family and that you hold the key to achieving the life you want to live.

Are you in a "caterpillar stage" of life? You sense that you could be more, but you find yourself limited by negative thoughts and/or overwhelming emotions. Or are you in a "chrysalis stage"? Your whole life seems to have disintegrated into nothing recognizable, and you are struggling to make sense of it all. From a foundation of empathy, acceptance, compassion, and respect, I provide a safe and supportive environment in which to grow and/or heal. I work from a "client-centered" approach that helps you find your own answers and healing from within.

My approach comes from a client-centered and trauma-informed viewpoint.
I find fulfillment in working with individuals and families of varied backgrounds and cultural identities. It brings me great joy to learn from the people I work with about their unique experiences, while also collaborating with them as a team to understand their specific needs and individual journeys. I have experience working with a variety of ages and mental health conditions as well as working with Bay Area youth, teens, and adults. Witnessing my clients in their journey is an honor and being able to guide them through some of the most challenging moments is one of the most rewarding experiences to me.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
