I work with women who have so much on their plates, from parenting to juggling work environments and life transitions. Wearing all these hats can feel exhausting and sometimes cause you to lose yourself. You feel overwhelmed and anxious most of the time, maybe more than ever before and you are finding it hard to know how to make it better. It can be hard to relax and let go of control as uncertainty feels scary & conflict is terrifying, but this is starting to negatively impact the important relationships in your life and maybe even leaves you feeling like a “bad" mother, wife, friend or daughter instead of a "regulated" you.

I support couples and families who are feeling overwhelmed by stress, life changes, anxiety, or depression. I know how deeply our relationships affect our emotional well-being, and when challenges show up, they can make it harder to communicate, stay connected, or feel understood. My goal is to offer a safe, supportive space where you can show up as you are and feel heard without judgment.

Does it feel like you and your partner just aren’t on the same page anymore? Do you feel like they just don’t hear you, or worse yet, that they just don’t care what you say or how you feel? You’ve been together for a long time and just want to be able to talk to each other without it turning into a fight every time. You feel disconnected from each other. You feel like you can’t even talk about simple stuff because you always disagree. You feel like you and your partner are just roommates, instead of soulmates. You feel like it’s easier to just avoid each other, than run the risk of another hurtful argument.

Hi there! Many of my clients are high achievers looking for a therapist who will strive to understand their unique circumstances in life. They tend to feel anxious, stuck or empty despite being successful in their careers. They're used to working or living in high-pressure environments and noticing how hard it is to maintain this lifestyle and keep the stress at bay. High performance comes at a cost and many times it’s our mental health that pays the price. Sometimes what has "always worked" just doesn't cut it anymore and it can feel like no matter how much we try, it's not enough.

Hi there, I'm Kimberly! Life really can get better! If you're experiencing feelings of hopelessness or just tired of being stuck, let's work together to break through any barriers that prevent you from having the quality of life you desire and deserve! I don't believe in half-measures or band-aids, but skeleton keys. That is, I suspect that you have tried all of the symptom relief methods you could find on the internet, which produced temporary change and ultimately, relapse. Until you get to the core of what is motivating your behavior and thinking, symptoms will continue to reemerge or simply change form. I am here to help you.

Sometimes dealing with mental health can be quite challenging. Sometimes it impacts our family/social, job performance and activities of daily living. I would like to assist individuals in learning how to reduce their symptoms so that it doesn't affect their day to day livihood

You’re exhausted from being the Strong Black Woman. Everyone leans on you, but inside you feel unseen and overworked. You were conditioned to prioritize everyone else. To perform. To be strong no matter what. The guilt of saying no is crushing. The weight of everyone's expectations is suffocating. You're tired of over-functioning, people-pleasing, and carrying burdens that aren't yours. You want peace. Boundaries without shame. To prioritize yourself without fear. To be seen for who you are, not just what you do. I help high‑achieving Black women release pressure and reclaim who they are— without guilt.

I have been a counselor for more than 30 years. I remain passionate about making a difference in the lives of others and believe that genuine caring is an essential element to an effective counseling relationship. Over the years I have worked with clients with significant trauma and loss. I consider it a privilege to stand with another individual as he or she resolves great pain. I am currently seeing clients exclusively via telemedicine (secure video platform). I am able to see clients in Texas, Kansas, Alabama, and California.

Christian Therapists
Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?
Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?
Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?
Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?
While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?
The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
