My ideal client is someone who is feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected—often high-functioning on the outside but struggling internally. They may be dealing with anxiety, unresolved trauma, relationship challenges, or a deep sense of not feeling “enough.” They often carry a strong sense of responsibility and are exhausted from trying to keep everything together. Their issues: They may struggle with chronic stress, emotional regulation, self-doubt, or a critical inner voice. Often, they’re navigating life transitions—grief, career changes, relationship shifts, or identity questions.

When words are hard to find, we can use art, writing, and mindfulness with talk to explore, express, and transform thoughts and emotions woven throughout life's journey.
Life is a beautiful thing, and is a complex thing that brings with it challenges and opportunities to grow, heal, and soften our edges. Intergenerational trauma, personal experiences, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, stress, as well as relationships and cultural expectations, can all affect how we see ourselves and interact with the world around us. By helping you unearth connections between mind and body, we can integrate each aspect that makes you, you.

If you’re a woman feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or stuck, you’re not alone. Maybe anxiety, perfectionism, stress, or past experiences have been part of your life leaving you feeling disconnected from yourself or unsure of what you want next. You might know something needs to change, but you're not sure where to begin. Many clients I see are balancing work, school & high expectations, while quietly feeling exhausted or unsure of who they are outside of everything they’re “supposed” to be doing. Others come in knowing their past still shows up in their present & wanting space to work through that in a way that feels safe & steady.

Art Therapy
How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
