Welcome to Windsong Therapy. You wouldn't be here reading this if you were not going through something painful or difficult. The good news is that pain is often the touchstone of changing for the better. I want to help. I don't believe you become a good therapist just from school or books. It also requires living real life which includes pain, struggle and finding courage, tools and solutions to not only overcome, but then share that knowledge and experience with others.

People often come to therapy because something isn’t working anymore. Maybe anxiety or depression has been quietly shaping your life, maybe old experiences still feel closer than they should, or maybe you’ve reached a stage of life where the questions feel bigger and harder to ignore. You don’t necessarily need to be in crisis to want support, sometimes you just want to understand yourself better and feel less stuck.

I most enjoy working with clients who are willing to look within and accept responsibility (not blame) for their thoughts, feelings and behavior. I feel especially honored to work with clients who have had traumatic childhood experiences, including sexual abuse. Although these events can have devastating consequences, I have found that survivors of childhood trauma can also be catapulted to higher than usual levels of consciousness and well-being when the traumas are healed. In other words, therapy is a very gratifying journey to walk with a client. I work well with anxiety, depression, chronic pain, eating disorders and dissociative disorders.

I’m here for the people who want to experience deep and lasting healing and transformation. I don’t do surface level, excessive focus on “symptom management” and coping skills. I do “let’s examine how you make meaning of reality and improve the quality of relationship with yourself, others, and the world. And let’s repattern your body and mind into an experience of safety and ease." I love diving deep with you into the identity structures that keep destructive and painful patterns in place and supporting you with discovering the innate wisdom that will guide you into a relationship of profound trust with, and love for, yourself.

Creating changes in our lives can often feel overwhelming and it is difficult to know where to start! I enjoy working with clients who recognize things in their lives aren’t working the way they expected or needed and are willing to look for ways to change their experience. I believe that we need to look inside ourselves to see if how we think about our own selves can impact our our views of life experiences and relationships. Look inward can often feel scary and I’m honored when clients allow me to share in that exploration with them.

Therapy for men and those who love them. I specialize in working with men who are reluctant to try therapy—yet ready to become less a stranger to themselves. Many men carry questions, doubts and pain quietly. Anger is what finally brings them to therapy. Whether it shows up as irritation, frustration, or outbursts you don’t understand, anger is often a signal that something deeper is seeking for attention.

Therapeutically I blend humanistic-existential, psychodynamic, depth, transpersonal, and parts work therapy.
Do you look capable on the outside while privately feeling overwhelmed or unsure of how to find your footing? I help people who feel stuck after loss, transition, or a lifetime of adapting to others. Many clients come in after major life shifts, feeling overwhelmed and unsure of how to move forward. Others have always felt different — overthinking social interactions, masking parts of themselves, or never fully feeling like they belong. What they all share is a longing to feel at home in themselves, and that's exactly what we'll work on together.

I am Dino Koutsolioutsos and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since the mid-1980s. I consider psychotherapy a good, but not a necessary, tool to address and explore life issues. I approach therapy as a friend and as another human being in the struggle and joy that is called life. My approach to therapy is instinctive, conversational, and relational. I believe my duty as a therapist is first, to listen, to try to understand, to empathize, and relate to the issues of another human being and then to respond and assist the other person in finding solutions to life's challenges and grow.

If you are moving through a difficult life transition, navigating relational conflict, living with the effects of past trauma, or struggling with long-standing patterns such as addiction, therapy can offer a space to slow down and understand what is asking for attention. My work is grounded in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, and informed by longstanding clinical experience with individuals and couples, with attention to relational life, intimacy, and the ways sexual, cultural, and spiritual histories shape experience.

Drawing from narrative, somatic, and transpersonal approaches, we explore your experience in a way that feels grounded and meaningful.
Maybe you’ve always felt a bit out of place in the world, or seen things differently than the people around you. Or maybe something has shifted through a life transition, loss, creative awakening, or a psychedelic or spiritual experience, and now you can’t relate to your life in the same way you once did. You might feel out of place or caught between who you’ve been and who you’re becoming. What once felt stable no longer does, and the usual ways of coping, or even talking about it, don’t quite fit.

Transpersonal Therapists
How does transpersonal therapy work?
Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.

How long does transpersonal therapy last?
Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.

Is transpersonal therapy effective?
Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilize the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.

What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?
There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
