Dr. Regueiro enjoys working with children, adolescents, and transitional age youth struggling with anxiety, depression, and adjustment to new situations. While symptom relief is an important goal for those entering therapy, Dr. Regueiro believes that therapy can offer more - not just the opportunity to stop being sad, or stop being worried, but the opportunity to thrive and create lives that are meaningful, peaceful, and joyful. Symptom relief is the starting point, not the end of the journey.

Accepting New Clients Reaching out for support takes courage, and choosing to begin therapy is a meaningful step toward growth and healing. Life can feel unpredictable and overwhelming at times, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. I work with teens, adults, couples, and families facing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. My goal is to create a warm, supportive space where you can slow down, feel understood, and begin to gain clarity.

I was trained in rendering brief and short term therapy since we all want quick results. How do I do that? I am interactive with my clients and not just provide “talk therapy”, but rather, we will co-create a plan together to help you achieve positive results. I hold my clients accountable and will assign homework. I will give you my input, impressions, and at times, challenge you when those defenses are up. In life, when we’re faced with challenges, it only promotes growth and strength. At the same time, we will give you the positive regard, reflective listening, and be your cheerleader. We will empower you, not enable you.

Everyone has battles to fight and hurdles to overcome at some point. My goal is to help people live fully and unencumbered by their past. All too often we are held back by our attitudes and behaviors, confused as to why we feel anxious, sad or lost. It is difficult to make changes when you don't understand the reason behind your thoughts and behaviors. Understanding ourselves and our past in a deeper way allows us to break free of unhealthy relationships and attitudes. The more aware we are of ourselves and the world the more choices we have as to how we live our lives.

Since 1999, my practice has been guided by a deep belief in the transformative power of understanding our childhood experiences to improve how we think and behave as adults. By exploring and gaining insight into these foundational experiences, we can challenge and update the beliefs that no longer serve us, facilitating personal growth and healthier relationships. I specialize in an integrative therapeutic approach, combining Internal Family Systems (IFS) with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), alongside other targeted interventions like letter writing and psychodynamic therapy.

I’m here for the people who want to experience deep and lasting healing and transformation. I don’t do surface level, excessive focus on “symptom management” and coping skills. I do “let’s examine how you make meaning of reality and improve the quality of relationship with yourself, others, and the world. And let’s repattern your body and mind into an experience of safety and ease." I love diving deep with you into the identity structures that keep destructive and painful patterns in place and supporting you with discovering the innate wisdom that will guide you into a relationship of profound trust with, and love for, yourself.

Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light. – Albus Dumbledore. I know life can feel heavy sometimes. When things get tough, it’s easy to feel like you’re facing it all alone. But I want you to remember this: even in your darkest moments, you have the strength to find your way through it. You’ve made it through challenges before, and you’re more resilient than you might realize. There are times, though, when the stress becomes overwhelming, and it can feel like your brain just shuts down. You might forget that there’s even a light to turn on. That’s where I come in—gently

In my 13+ years, I've found clients often come to therapy after a crisis or realizing things aren't working, sometimes feeling unsure about change at first. Yet, that first session and the next often reveal the readiness to begin. I'm here to support that journey. Recognizing that healing requires vulnerability and each path is unique, I listen, learn, and partner with you to find clarity, foster growth, and create lasting change, whether you're an individual, teen, couple, or family.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
