I will validate what you have been through using trauma informed approaches.
I imagine that you have wanted a secure, loving relationship for a long time. Every time you try it, you end up unhappy, people pleasing, investing more than you are getting out, getting in fights, triggered and eventually you either settle for less or you accept this is your fate, you will end up alone forever. I imagine you want to connect and form a deep loving commitment where you can be yourself, not be judged and create a beautiful lasting relationship. Maybe this includes working relationships, family relationships or even friendships. Maybe you feel like you're not enough and each day simply getting through the day?

As a certified trauma focused therapist (JFKU) and level One Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist, I integrate IFS, mindfulness, experiential and expressive therapies to facilitate a transformative individual healing experience.
Are you at a place in your life where you need some support and guidance to move forward? It may feel like you’ve done all you can, and you’re not sure what to do next. It may even feel like past patterns, keep repeating themselves. You’re not alone. Change is hard, and there are many reasons why our past and they ways we’ve learned to relate in the world keep giving us the same results. The good news is that we can always learn new ways of being and relating, ways to move forward, find new meaning and continue to learn and grow. I hope that you will take this next step on your path of healing.

For over 30 years, I have specialized in working with individuals and couples who are looking for a deep, transformative experience in therapy that resolves core issues and not just symptoms. I help my clients heal life long attachment wounds and change deep seated negative patterns, facilitating a greater capacity for intimacy, joy, inner peace, and confidence. I draw upon several approaches including EMDR for the resolution of past trauma and addictions, psychodynamic (childhood issues), Couples Systems, Jungian dream analysis, meditative practices, somatic focused therapy, and techniques from the latest neuroscience research.

I specialize in supporting new and expecting families experiencing prenatal/postpartum depression and anxiety, relationship and attachment issues, birth trauma , and loss. The journey into motherhood invites us to experience intense love and joy, but it also touches our most raw and vulnerable parts. We may experience worries of not being good enough or fears of losing our identity. I understand how difficult it can be to take time for yourself when you feel overwhelmed and sleep deprived. But I also know that taking the time now to increase self-awareness can move you beyond survival and transform your experience of motherhood.

As a clinician who practices a strength-based approach to assessment, strategies and treatment, I love helping people to re-connect with their own happiness! My clinical expertise is in combining specialized clinical knowledge and skills in the service of resolving anxiety. My unique approach incorporates Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Mindfulness. I find that many people diagnosed with long-standing clinical depression and anxiety are often suffering from the negative impact of self-criticism, relationship discord, past trauma , or achievement fatigue, and that once these are addressed, their symptoms subside.

Be able and confident to use real tools helping to bring ease in your life and get your world on track. There is help for suffering, PTSD , anxiety, etc. that does not always involve having to trench up the past, but rather, can work right now to bring relief. Are you hurting or stuck? Often our past laid down unconscious survival mechanisms that are at work today that are no longer useful. We can work together to discover these and then insert a new and more useful tool that can allow more ease in your world. I help you identify current needs are so that these can be supported. I specialize in adult adoptees (I am one myself).

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
