I specialize in supporting people struggling with
anxiety
, harsh inner critics, perfectionism, people-pleasing, career burnout, life transitions, and relationship boundaries.
I see the choice to begin therapy as an act of self-empowerment. Whether you need support for a difficult life transition, notice ingrained patterns that you want to shift, or seek personal or spiritual growth, initiating therapy paves the way for change. I believe that we are inherently relational beings and that sharing our whole selves within the support of a trusting relationship is an important component of healing. From this place of truth, we can work together to make meaning of your challenges and leverage them into opportunities for growth and change.

I work with WOMEN and ATHLETEs who are struggling with overwhelming
ANXIETY
. Sometimes this includes issues with relationships, spirituality, trauma and PTSD, self esteem, codependency, life transitions, eating issues, sports performance, and grief. You may be feeling not good enough, stuck in a toxic relationship, uncomfortable asking for help, scared of conflict, intimidated, taken advantage of. You can achieve, tough it out, and make other people happy, but aren’t really happy yourself.

Often, I find many people come to therapy originally looking for help with
anxiety
and depression, when their true suffering is from a past trauma.
Any person who enters into therapy with me is appreciated and welcomed. I identify each client as unique and feel a deep respect for them. My work experience has been primarily with adults and teenagers and it's been an incredibly enriching privilege. I practice client centered therapy, which acknowledges the client's wisdom, and holistic treatments. Whatever the client's issue is, I will be open minded, open hearted and compassionate. Whatever the therapeutic goal, I will assist and explore with the client at their speed. I truly look forward to working with my clients and I'm keenly interested in their therapeutic process.

As a clinician who practices a strength-based approach to assessment, strategies and treatment, I love helping people to re-connect with their own happiness! My clinical expertise is in combining specialized clinical knowledge and skills in the service of resolving
anxiety
. My unique approach incorporates Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Mindfulness. I find that many people diagnosed with long-standing clinical depression and
anxiety
are often suffering from the negative impact of self-criticism, relationship discord, past trauma, or achievement fatigue, and that once these are addressed, their symptoms subside.

I offer a flexible, emotionally-present, and intellectually curious setting for making lasting changes to attitudes and beliefs which underlie states such as: uncertainty, self-doubt, and
anxiety
;
loss of enthusiasm and purpose; inhibited capacity to love; unproductive and obsessive thinking; and lack of assertiveness.
Good therapy experiences are based on an engaged and profoundly honest conversation that is collaborative, imaginative, thoughtful, and touched with a little grace. We open ourselves to the transforming power of our intuition when we feel truly heard, understood, and encouraged to risk being different. I believe this offers us the opportunity to stretch ourselves and live lives which are more free, creative, and emotionally generous.

You really can do this. You really can heal. I haven't always felt as Anchored & Happy as I am now--for 25 years-I studied practiced & would be honored to teach you.

I specialize in issues of
anxiety
, depression, intergenerational trauma, and eating disorders.
Life is filled with transitions, changes, growth, and honestly sometimes, even regressions. But that is okay. And even better, you do NOT have to go it alone. Let me walk through the darkness with you and we can find the way out together. Let me help you discover your strengths. Let me guide you getting your life back on track. Therapy does not have to be scary or intimidating. Therapy does not require prior experience. Therapy also does not have to be all talk about feelings for an hour. We can draw, we can take a walk, we can cry, we can laugh, we can even meet virtually! Therapy with me will be about you and your needs.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
