I have experience working with a range of diagnoses and topics including depression, anxiety, substance use, intense self criticism, fear of authenticty, PTSD, pregnancy/postpartum, grief, identity formation, family/relational issues, and systemic oppression.
Does your inner voice often sound critical? Do you struggle with high standards for yourself and fear judgment and rejection from others? Maybe you struggle with expressing your needs and feelings? That's where I can offer support. I work well with people who are highly sensitive, struggle with perfectionism, and are curious about exploring the parts of themselves that have been shamed and repressed. I help by facilitating empowerment, teaching skills to relearn emotional safety, and centering one's story. I strive to facilitate a process of healing that is client-led and welcomes all emotions.

I have experience with everyday relational and career concerns to more significant problems disrupting daily functioning such as trauma.
Most of us pride ourselves on our strength and ability to "get through" life challenges. Yet, there are times in all of our lives when we seem be in a 'bad space' or things just seem out of alignment. People come to counseling because they are struggling with an issue, relationship, unresolved feelings, or feeling numb and apathetic to the world. Sometimes, we need insight into our choices and behavior or the impact of family dynamics on us. Counseling is about gaining insight, overcoming challenges, reconnecting mind, body, and spirit, fostering positive connections with others, and flourishing.

Trauma. Depression. Anxiety. Inattention. These are all natural responses to the challenges of life. These challenges are daunting on their own, and can feel insurmountable because of how the world treats gender, race, sexuality and learning differences. I'm a therapist at the intersection of multiple identities (queer, non-binary, Japanese American, Jewish). I use mindfulness-based therapies to help clients live in the present moment and find liberation from the impact of family history and systemic discrimination.

My specialties include: 1) Relationship Issues 2) LGBTQ Issues 3) Trauma and Substance Abuse Issues 4) Grief and Loss.
Relationships, work, and life, in general, can be tough. Being told, "it will get better" or "time will help", although well intended, doesn't help. Being able to connect with someone who listens, connects with you, is honest and direct about challenges in order to help you navigate through the process can help.

I am a licensed clinical social worker in multiple states, including CA. My passion is working with adolescents & adults & guiding them in healing from trauma. This passion is due to my own healing journey as a child who was touched inappropriately, exposed to domestic violence in a military household where my father abused drugs, & llater experienced the death of my then 3-year-old son in 1996. Through my own healing journey, I learned how to "manage" my symptoms consisting of low self-esteem, mood instability, not feeling safe, trust issues, & the need to control everything which negatively impacted my relationships with others.

I am trauma-informed, and LGBTQI/Kink/ENM Affirming.
There are countless stories and ideas we're told about who we can and should be! More successful, more actualized, richer, taller, thinner- with all that noise around us, it is often hard to hear our own voice telling us what we value, what makes us feel alive, what is worth our energy and attention. When we feel stuck or weighed down by trauma, depression, anxiety, or systemic injustice, it’s especially hard to access our preferences, inner resources, and community. Our voice gets lost or neglected. This is my commitment to you in our work – to make space for your voice.

I am EMDR- trained and IFS-informed and approach my clients from a trauma-informed lens.
You are highly insightful and perceptive but find yourself trapped in a cycle of overthinking, self-criticism, or placing the needs of others above your own. Unable to shake the feeling that something is inherently wrong with you or that certain parts of you are unacceptable, you try to numb away this feeling, which might manifest in tendencies such as workaholism, incessantly consuming self-help content, or entering into unhealthy but addictive relationships. You're seeking healing that is in-depth and lasting.

Are you struggling with anxiety and trauma and turning towards unhealthy coping mechanisms in an attempt to manage your emotions? Now is a trying time for almost everyone, and if you have a trauma background what's coming up in the current environment may be reminiscent of the stress, isolation, and fear induced by early childhood experiences. You don't have to handle this alone, and with clinically tested techniques to regulate the mind and body, it's possible to shift from a place of disempowerment to strength.

Whether you experience the effects of childhood or adult trauma, conflict in personal or professional relationships, anxiety, depression, the impact of grief and loss or behaviors that have been tough to control, we will work together using a gentle inquiry through the IFS lens to understand and bring healing to what feels challenging and out of balance.
I believe that no matter how stuck we feel in life the key to freedom and wellbeing always lies inside us. As an IFS-certified therapist for over 12 years, I have helped many clients find inner peace and fulfillment by recognizing tendencies and patterns that stand in their path to healing. A core IFS belief is that even our most dreaded habits and patterns are protective mechanisms that we have developed unconsciously to remain safe from more hurt and suffering. What makes IFS a powerful modality is that it is not based on pathology or diagnosis but on understanding that our internal system is organized around protection and safety

I work to empower individuals and couples to experience healthy, fulfilling relationships with themselves and others using a trauma-informed approach and the Gottman Method.
If you are feeling lost, alone, or out of touch with your usual self, I know you have not made the decision to reach out for help lightly. Seeking therapy is an effort to do just about anything to finally feel better. Maybe you are feeling weighed down by life's stressors, like it is impossible to be a woman in today's society, struggling to navigate the transition to motherhood, overcome with sadness, and hopeless about how to take care of yourself, your relationship, or your child. If you are searching for holistic support in embodying your role as a mother, or mood management during pregnancy and post-partum, I can help.

Do you find yourself being held back by your past, no matter what you do? It is time to stop living in the past. The stress is impacting your creative expression and relationships with the people you love the most. The state of your mental health is negatively impacting your quality of life at this point. All you want is to be a healthy woman who enjoys life in the present moment and is at peace with herself. You feel as if past events are keeping you stuck from being the best version of yourself. Your reaction to trauma reminders doesn't sit well with you, either. But you’re here because you're ready to fix it.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
