I have a sensitivity to individuals with attachment issues, who have experienced trauma of some kind and to the needs of creative artists.
I focus on individuals, couples, children and families struggling with life challenges we all face from time to time. I offer a warm, nurturing environment in which you can share your concerns, hopefully rebalance situations in your life and perhaps find a sense of direction. This is best accomplished taking direction from you and in collaboration with you and your needs. The best approach to healing is to discuss your needs and together develop a plan of action. I welcome people of any kind who are in need. You will find my door and my heart open.

I enjoy working with both couples and individuals who are grappling with a variety of life challenges; life changes, including health issues, career goals, trauma, loss, anxiety or mood disorders.
If we have learned anything from the pandemic, it is that we all need and thrive in relationships. Therapy is an important tool for developing and nurturing positive relationships, both with others and with yourself. Using my training as a marriage and family therapist, my life experiences and love of people, I foster a safe, warm, non-judgmental environment. I believe that it is not the challenges or traumas that form us, but how we respond to them. Collaboratively we can build resiliency as we discover and heal the obstacles that interfere with you having a deeper, more meaningful life.

My approach is rooted in anti-oppression and I practice from a trauma-informed lens.
You’re performing a role you never signed up for. Measuring your worth by others’ approval is catching up to you. When you are not taking care of others, you feel overwhelmed by your own life. Doomscrolling has become routine. You’re constantly on the go because slowing down feels too scary. You don’t even know what you need and how to ask for support. You’ve been taught that focusing on yourself makes you selfish. While you wonder whose life you’re really living, you battle negative self-talk and shame. Your identity is more complex than checking a box so you’re skeptical that someone will understand, but something needs to change.

I often help with problems like trauma and PTSD, relationships issues, and life transitions.
We’re not meant to be our own worst critic, yet it seems to happen more often than not. What if it could be different? What if you could be a dear friend to yourself who is always loving, available, and kind? By learning to challenge self-defeating thoughts you can begin to change your entire life. Practices such as mindfulness, reframing, and deeper inner work can help you get there. As an experienced therapist I am dedicated to this process. I help adults, teens, and couples who are seeking positive shifts in their lives. I connect particularly well with creative spirits who are ready for their next adventure.

My Habits Into Health framework is a depth-oriented, skills-based process that helps clients find recovery from chronic health and addiction issues — as well as the trauma they have in common.
Many of my clients are working professionals, mostly women, ages mid-30s into their 60s. If they’re in relationships or married, they usually have children. A number of my clients ask for my help in sorting out issues in their relationships with partners, family members, co-workers, and supervisors.

I also utilize EMDR to quickly and effectively decrease symptoms of trauma, anxiety, depression and avoidance.
Staying sane in an insane world is crazy-making! As our modern culture has become more complicated, so have our lives. Living at a fast pace, we may find ourselves feeling isolated, lost, or even hopeless. In these times I believe it is courageous to seek therapy when something "feels off." You already possess the skills you need to live the life you envision. I can help you identify and move past blockages and emotional clutter. My role in this process is to provide engagement and collaboration as we approach the discomfort, grief, or fear with curiosity and compassion.

My goal is to create a safe trauma-informed space for us to explore self and learn healthy ways to cope.
Life can feel overwhelming. An unexpected event can suddenly throw everything off balance, or many smaller stresses can build up and make it hard to cope with everyday tasks. Together we can explore your inner strengths and how to use them moving forward and find healing throughout the process. I am dedicated to social justice and believe that it’s important to find awareness of one’s resilience in the process of self-discovery and acceptance.

Our early and middle childhood team specializes in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-Focused CBT, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Children (DBT-C) to treat anxiety, OCD, ADHD, autism, disruptive behaviors, selective mutism, trauma and depression.
We are passionate about addressing the disturbing fact that mental illness continues to increase despite greater evidence-based treatment availability than ever before. We believe this is due to the unethical managed-care practices, rigid clinical delivery models, and interventions developed on a fundamental misunderstanding about emotions and emotional disorders. Our services teach individuals and families how to listen to primary emotions that signal information about our core needs and how to act opposite to secondary emotions that cause distress and suffering. We provide state-of-the-art evidence-based treatments (EBT), working as a multidisciplinary team to provide collaborative, individualized, and comprehensive treatment targeting your child's individual symptoms, their academic and social experiences, transactions within the family system, and whole-family support through individual therapy, group therapy, caregiver coaching, family therapy & couples therapy. Services can flex from weekly outpatient care to intensive outpatient programming, delivering 1-15 hours of individualized care. Progress is measured through weekly measurement-based care and monthly team meetings.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
