I have a warm and open approach to meeting people where they are and focusing on what they would find most helpful in therapy. I want to ensure people feel comfortable and safe as they start the process of growth. It is important to understand each person's background and goals and then work collaboratively to apply the best practices and research from the field to help people find the healing and development they are searching for in a partnership. I believe that support, healing, and change are possible and happen.

I specialize in EMDR, a type of therapy that offers wonderful results with clients experiencing long-term difficulties such as relationship struggles, PTSD anxiety, grief, and low-self-esteem.
EMDR is an evidence-based treatment modality growing tremendously in popularity as people experience its effectiveness. EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue, rather it addresses unresolved trauma in the brain. Using eye movements or tapping, EMDR is strategy that allows the brain to reprocess stuck memories.

Many people come to counseling feeling stuck. You may appear to be okay to the outside world, yet internally you are navigating anxiety, the weight of past experiences, or a sense of being disconnected from your own life. You know that simply "pushing through" is no longer a sustainable solution, and you are ready for a deeper, more meaningful kind of change.

A lot of my work centers around trauma, gender identity, sexuality, kink, and polyamory.
Sometimes there are parts of ourselves, our desires, or our pasts that are difficult to share with others. This could be because of a lack of acceptance or support in your social world, and could be related to feelings of fear, shame, or disgust. I work with clients to build a relationship in which it is safe enough for clients to bring disowned parts of themselves into compassionate awareness as they develop a sense of wholeness. Throughout this deep internal work, I ask curious questions about environmental factors in order to support liberation from internalized oppression and self-blame.

I also work with individuals who struggle with gender identity concerns, abuse and trauma (sexual, verbal, physical, emotional), PTSD, depression, anxiety, women's and men's issues, and sexual desire/intimacy/dysfunctions.
The basis of using a more eclectic therapeutic style is in my understanding that everyone is different and therapy is not a "one size fits all" practice, and I strive to be sensitive to each person's individual needs. I'm experienced in working with individuals who are active in polyamory/open/casual relationships.

These are uncertain times! You know you could use some support, that you want to feel better, maybe less anxious, so you came to this website. Congratulations on taking the first step. However, you've been scrolling the pages on this site for a while and every therapist is beginning to look the same, and every blurb sound alike. It's hard to find a therapist, especially if you don't have a personal referral from a friend or colleague. Let's talk on the phone for 10 mins to figure out what you're looking for right now, see if we're a good fit and discuss how I can help.

I work with many people in recovery and individuals who have experienced different levels of trauma ( whether it was by having difficulties in childhood or a specific recent event).
I am trained in several trauma specialties including EMDR and Trauma/Resiliency Resourcing. I am a relational therapist who partakes in the work. I work WITH you. I value your history. I often see things from a systemic and attachment viewpoint, but am most interested in your understanding of things.

I have over 5 years of experience working with young adults navigating challenges in relationships, self-esteem, and life transitions. Using an attachment-based approach, I strive to create a space where you feel seen, supported, and understood as a whole person. As someone who exists at the intersection of multiple identities - biracial, bisexual, and originally from the East Coast now living on the West Coast - I understand what it’s like to move between worlds and navigate questions of belonging. This informs the way I show up as a therapist: curious and attentive to the unique contexts that shape each person’s experience.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
