As a transpersonal therapist, I work with those who desire to integrate their personal sense of Spirit into their healing journey.
Our deepest Self is good, creative and generative; we are beautiful and resilient beings, an integration of body, mind, spirit, and ancestry. Yet sometimes life’s challenges sabotage our joy or interrupt our purpose, leaving us feeling anxious, grieved, or manifesting destructive thought and behavioral patterns. These challenges are the daily demands of navigating our chaotic world, but sometimes include other traumas such as violence, abuse, or family and inter-generational wounds.

With a background in depth and transpersonal psychology, I utilize an integrative approach, drawing upon multiple psychological modalities including psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral therapy, family systems, mindfulness strategies, Buddhist psychology, and transtheoretical therapy. Utilizing these approaches is an important part of helping my clients grow towards self-understanding, self-reliance and emotional soothing. In addition, clients develop the ability to be more at ease and compassionate with themselves while being less reactive to their negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

My approach blends mind-body awareness, mindfulness, transpersonal and existential psychology, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
The future of psychotherapy is with psychedelics. I have dedicated my life to bringing these tools above ground. I come to this meaningful work with integrity, heartfelt curiosity, and humility after witnessing how transformative psychedelics can be for individuals. I see healing and human connection as an essential aspect of what’s needed for our planet right now and nothing gives me more joy than to see people discovering their vitality and passion for life again. I currently work with ketamine and I also offer support to individuals dabbling with psychedelics and microdosing, providing risk reduction and integration.

Drawing upon my 20+ years as a life coach and intuitive healer, I integrate mindfulness, expressive arts, and somatic, transpersonal and psychodynamic therapeutic approaches.
Creating a safe, caring, non-judgmental environment in which to engage in a deep, authentic healing process is my intention. Anxiety, depression, and other painful issues, often have their roots in developmental wounding and/or trauma. I help you get to the causes of your pain and patterns that no longer serve you. Mindfulness and somatic resourcing allow you to experience relief (and rewire your brain) while safely navigating and processing the past. I specialize in anxiety, trauma, PTSD, relationships, career, self-esteem, and auto-immune, pain and other somatic challenges. I offer individual, couples therapy, groups, workshops, and retreats.

I was trained at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, CA.
My practice is Buddhist psychotherapy which uses deep inquiry, self awareness and meditation. My goals for therapy are, first, to alleviate suffering and second to deal with symptoms. Then we can address personal growth and existential issues. Most of the work is done in the present moment and is little dependent on our past. The work usually goes quickly and very directly... but sometimes we need to go slow. A typical successful series might be 10-12 meetings. Spiritual matters are usually an important area of concern...What's really important? Is our behavior congruent with those values? So, tell me about that...

As a Psychotherapist and Transpersonal Hypnotherapist with just over 20 years of experience working in the Human Services and Mental Health fields, I am quickly able to decipher the root of many psychological, behavioral, and emotional manifestations and other related disorders.
Understanding human behavior and how it is shaped is just one of the key essential components to unraveling the complexity of who we are. When faced with situations beyond our control such as our genealogical predispositions, self-discovery, the families we are born into, societal pressures and oppression the lives we are in pursuit of and desire are disrupted.

I also have a special interest in transpersonal and depth psychology, including spiritual & transpersonal emergence, expressive arts therapies, ecotherapy, sexuality, LGBTQIA concerns, and transitional age youth (TAY).
Do you need support finding your life’s purpose? Do you feel overwhelmed? Do you find it difficult to feel pain and face your shadows? While considering the whole person- heart, soul, mind and body, I trust that you enter therapy having the insight you need to navigate your distress. I use the term "depth emergence" to explain my orientation and approach. It stems from depth psychology, which emphasizes gaining access to the unconscious and bringing it into consciousness. While increasing awareness we derive meaning, evolve, and transform.

I believe that struggle and pain is an inevitable part of life, that all deserve to be heard by a kind ear and a compassionate heart, and that no one should suffer alone. Poor self-esteem and self-worth as adults, can be a sign of emotional neglect and/or abuse during childhood. Being raised by ego-centric parents and/or abusive parents, can cause feelings of insecurity, frustration, dissatisfaction, and fawning as adults. Ignoring difficult feelings, can cause symptoms such as depression and anxiety. Such symptoms are a sign of distress, and an invitation to go inwards and heal

Hi, My name is Steve. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and addiction coach living in Los Angeles. I have always been curious about life and people. As I reflect on my lived experiences I have come to understand that connecting with others in a meaningful way has been the thing that has brought me the most fulfillment and joy. A very old friend recently told me that, having known me over the years, they felt that the thing that was most important to me was freedom. This resonated as true to me and I believe it informs my work as a therapist and coach.

Transpersonal Therapists

How does transpersonal therapy work?

Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.

How long does transpersonal therapy last?

Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.

Is transpersonal therapy effective?

Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilize the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.

What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?

There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
