I combine elements of traditional talk therapy with somatic (body-oriented) techniques that are particularly effective for people who understand their behavior on an intellectual level but continue to feel stuck, or have reached a plateau with talk therapy alone.
Welcome! I provide holistic therapy for young adults, college students, and recent graduates. My priority is creating a space where you feel safe and understood, so we can get to the root of your challenges and find your path forward. If you’re feeling lost about your next steps, questioning aspects of your identity, or feeling unsatisfied in your relationships, therapy can help. In time, you'll reconnect with your innate strengths, clarify your values, and challenge self-critical thoughts so you can move forward with confidence and alignment.

I blend a number of different frameworks into my practice including trauma-informed CBT, DBT, ACT, somatic psychotherapy and self-compassion.
Early in my career, I was fortunate enough to work with a psychiatrist who believed there was more to treating mental health than medication. I participated in a training with him and I was transformed as a therapist. I was trained in the relaxation response and mindfulness meditation and using the body to help heal people who have had significant trauma and mental health challenges.

I integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS) and somatic work for nervous system regulation and fostering self-compassion and self-trust.
You feel overwhelmed by the pressure to succeed, yet still feel like you're falling behind some invisible measure of "real success." You are over being the giver in your relationships, whether in friendships where you initiate all of the texts or your intimate relationships where you feel more like a manager than a true partner. Your nervous system is spent because you're burned out, but even the thought of downtime gives you guilt. You're ready for something to change on a deeper level so that you can finally understand yourself, accept yourself, and trust yourself, no matter the circumstances.

I also use somatic tools and mindfulness in my work.
Welcome, I’m glad you’re here! I’m Katrin and I help thoughtful souls and survivors of emotional abuse to find healing, growth, and peace. Do you beat yourself up for not functioning the way you think you “should?” Do you struggle to balance your needs with the demands of modern life? Many people do, and this can lead to depression, anxiety, shame, burnout, and a host of other human conditions that impact emotional well-being. For some, this shows up physically: as sleep changes or chronic pain. For others, it leads to feeling stuck. But for most, there's a sense that there’s a “better” way of functioning in today's world.

We will most likely use a blend of EMDR, Brainspotting, narrative therapy, somatic work, and IFS/"parts work" to examine, untangle, and explore.
Welcome! Maybe you've found yourself here because you need help untangling something. Maybe you're carrying longstanding burdens; maybe those burdens aren't even yours to hold. If you are seeking holistic, intersectional, emotion focused, justice-oriented therapy, I'm here to assist you! I provide trauma and self-exploration therapy to adults, couples, and teenagers in a dynamic, compassionate container. I aim to instill self-understanding in my clients, and empower them to grow in places they've historically had to shrink.

My expertise in traditional psychotherapy, contemporary somatic treatment modalities, and spirituality, enables us to tailor a unique approach that works for you.
You deserve the support you need. When we are struggling with anxiety, PTSD, personal or relationship transitions, life can feel especially difficult. Experiences of trauma, changes in our identity and relationships, legal or learning challenges can sometimes be overwhelming--even long after they happen. Often, beliefs that once provided guidance or comfort change, leaving us feel even more lost at sea. Yet deep within, we all have access to a feeling of our aliveness that can help us navigate these rough spots. Our work offers you safety and caring to bolster your strengths, recover your joy, and find your inner knowing once again.

My approach is primarily relational, somatic and psychoanalytic, though I pull from other frameworks as well.
If you are looking to process trauma, improve interpersonal relationships, better understand yourself, or simply find support for current difficulties, I would love to connect and discuss how I might be of service. In addition to my masters in somatic psychology, I have also completed coursework on my PhD in Clinical Psychology.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
