I draw from from IFS, the Trauma Resilience Model, and a
psychodynamic
approach to expand awareness of how your experiences have impacted you so you can move forward more freely.
Every human struggles, and every human deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported while finding their way to a healthy flow. Are you feeling disconnected? Your mental health may seem hard for others to understand, or even for you to understand. Maybe it feels overwhelming to question why you feel this way, or what's actually in your control to change. Maybe the things that get you through aren’t the healthiest for you, and you’re ready to try something different. I'm here to accompany and guide you, whether navigating life transitions, addiction, relationship issues, or managing depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, Bipolar, or ADHD.

I work in an eclectic way borrowing from a variety of different therapeutic styles with a decidedly
psychodynamic
lens and somatic focus.
To me, therapy is a deeply collaborative, relational journey and practice that has meant as much to me as a clinician as it has as a client. I work alongside my clients to help you gain greater awareness and understanding of your experiences, patterns, and feelings so you can make desired changes and move towards personal growth. Primary to this work is my dedication to providing a safe and respectful space where you can explore yourself freely and without judgment. Curiosity will be the fuel that drives our exploration together while grace and empathy will sustain the work.

I use techniques such as CBT and mindfulness to challenge automatic negative thoughts,
psychodynamic
and attachment based approaches to build a trusting, safe, nurturing relationship, and EMDR to process trauma, including small ’t’ traumas that can affect our ability to be fully in the present.
Are you feeling blocked? Have you been trying to make changes but keep getting stuck? Do you wish your career would take off? Or that you would be happier in your relationships? Maybe depression, anxiety, or an addiction is getting in your way. My speciality is working with adults and adolescents that are wanting to create a fulfilling life by breaking through the barriers that are holding them back.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 10 years experience, I have had the honor of being invited into the lives and struggles of individuals, couples, adolescents, and families. I have been able to integrate solution focused cognitive therapy and
psychodynamic
client-centered approaches to help clients navigate issues ranging from depression, anxiety, stress, emotional and physical abuse, issues from family of origin, relationship issues involving intimacy and communication that are either a result of early life trauma, or occurring later in life as a result of difficulties with employment, life stresses, and grief and loss.

I use a combination of Mindfulness and
Psychodynamic
therapies to help you have a more balanced fulfilling life.
My focus is on building healing and developing strong personal relationships. I believe successful relationships are the key for psychological, physical, and spiritual health. I provide insight therapy for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, abuse, and low self-esteem. Insight into these problematic concerns can help heal the pain that is interfering with a person's life. I view therapy as an adventure into the world within. It's vital to understand the inner forces that fuel our feelings. A respectful understanding of these dynamics will create a fresh perspective and promote a mastery of our lives, to know one's own person, preference, and boundaries.

Depending on the needs of my patient, I integrate both
psychodynamic
principles, which involve the exploration of one's past and its impact on the present, and cognitive behavioral techniques, which involve changing thoughts and behaviors that can contribute to presenting problems and symptoms.
I treat both couples and individuals (18+) and tailor psychotherapy to meet the goals and needs of the patient. The therapeutic relationship is especially important and my goal is to provide a collaborative and interactive psychotherapy experience. I have almost 20 years experience treating people who experience depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder and symptoms of alcohol and drug abuse. I also have the experience and privilege of serving a culturally and ethnically diverse population, including the gay and lesbian community. My office is conveniently located with free parking in the mid-Wilshire area of Los Angeles near the Beverly Center.

I work in an integrative and person-centered approach that utilizes a
psychodynamic
, existential, and feminist psychotherapy.
In our therapy together, we can safely explore whatever problems you are experiencing in life. It can be nerve-wracking to choose someone to be vulnerable with, but at its best, therapy is an experience of growth, change, acceptance, and healing. The things that are troubling you are an invitation to transformation, and you are not alone on that journey.

In my practice, I affirm clients’ identities and intersecting struggles, while drawing on
psychodynamic
, relational and mindfulness practices, dialogue, and strategies for collective care.
I believe our lived experiences and hopes for the future provide us with insights to help understand our pain, joy, struggles, triumphs, and deepest questions. The late poet and essayist Audre Lorde reminds us that "our feelings are our most genuine paths to knowledge." Using an intersectional, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed framework, I embark on a collaborative journey with clients who want to reflect on their experiences and unpack symptoms related to anxiety, depression, and trauma that may impact their relationships and daily lives.

I listen carefully and openly to current and past struggles to help promote self-awareness and understanding. I work closely with my clients to alleviate problematic symptoms and promote overall well-being.

I work from a
psychodynamic
and trauma-informed lens, as I believe that long-lasting change requires understanding and healing from our pasts.
I am currently accepting new clients. Making meaningful changes in life can be difficult. We tend to stick to what’s familiar, sometimes leaving us stuck in places we no longer want to be. The path towards healing and growth can sometimes be overwhelming and confusing. I believe that often, the answer is already within us, but we may need guidance to view life through a new lens. I’d like to walk with you on your journey of expansion. I am here to help you access your potential and develop the tools you need to have more fulfilling relationships with yourself and others.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
