Beginning therapy is an act of courage, and often a response to an inner longing for change. You may feel anxious, unfulfilled, or caught in patterns that leave you disconnected from others or from your own desire. Together we’ll explore what lives beneath the surface- the stories, defenses, and disavowed feelings/experiences that shape how you experience yourself and relate to others. I offer a grounded, compassionate space where nothing about you is too much, and where new freedom, intimacy, and self-acceptance can take root allowing you to live with greater flexibility and ease.

Our experiences can shape how we see ourselves, connect with others, and navigate life. When trauma, emotional wounds, or ongoing relational stress remain unresolved, they can lead to stress and sometimes disconnection. Therapy offers a supportive space to explore these experiences, build self-awareness and create healthier ways of relating to others and yourself. I mainly work with adults navigating challenges, anxiety, depression, and significant life transitions; strengthen your inner resources, and move toward greater clarity and fulfillment.

Being in the world can often feel like a challenge. I work with individuals and couples who want to improve their relationships by gaining a greater sense understanding. I work with clients to develop their self knowledge and self worth so they can embrace their hopes and accept feelings of disappointment. The ability to self-reflect helps in moving toward a more satisfying future with a greater sense of compassion and tolerance for yourself and a greater openness toward others. The goal of the work is the creation of an emotionally safe home where acceptance and recognition can foster personal emotional growth and healing.

I am certified in the treatment of personality disorders, rape crisis counseling, and domestic violence advocacy; and am trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, ERP and I-CBT for obsessive-compulsive disorders, and interventions for minor attracted persons.
I am a firm believer that life can feel so difficult, so bleak, that it is totally reasonable to sometimes question its worth. I am also a firm believer that difficult, bleak things can still be meaningful, still include joy, still contain peace. Humans are not equations, but no doubt does the past impact the present, including one's very outlook on being alive. As a complex-trauma and personality disorder therapist, also concentrating on premenstrual dysphoric disorder, my goal is to support you in pursuing a life you value even though your past (and maybe present) have been particularly injurious.

Finding the right therapist is often the most difficult step in the healing journey. It requires finding a balance between someone who deeply understands the science of the mind and someone who genuinely cares about the person sitting across from them. With 13 years of clinical practice, I have dedicated my career to being that balance for my clients.

Life can get complicated, and there is no handbook on how to handle things like depression, anxiety, addiction, and relationship problems. It is important to know two things: 1. you are not alone, and 2. challenges are always opportunities to grow and change your life. You are probably here because it's time to "do something different." Let us help guide you through this journey!

If you feel supported and safe, deep healing and meaningful change can occur. I am dedicated to fostering a culturally sensitive, honest, and containing space to help you work through the struggles of your inner and outer world.

Personality Disorders Therapists
What are the common treatment options for personality disorders?
Personality disorders are typically treated with psychotherapy, sometimes in conjunction with medication. Therapy can help people with personality disorders develop skills to tolerate difficult emotions, navigate interpersonal relationships, and solidify their sense of self. Medications can treat symptoms that co-occur with the disorder, such as depression, anger, aggression, and impulsivity.

When to seek treatment for personality disorders?
Even though treatment for personality disorders can be an uphill battle, it’s best to seek help if you suspect that you or a loved one is struggling with one, because personality disorders can create substantial problems in life. Symptoms depend on the specific disorder, but overall signs of personality disorders include consistent difficulty maintaining close relationships, dramatic variations in self-esteem, and an unstable sense of identity.

How long does therapy take for personality disorders?
The timeline for treating personality disorders isn’t as clear-cut as it is for other disorders. Change can be difficult, taking from around one year to five, 10, or more. The key is finding a therapist who has extensive experience treating the relevant disorder. For example, a psychologist who specializes in narcissistic personality disorder has specific communication strategies that allow them to sustain the relationship and be more effective with narcissistic patients.

Can therapy help people with personality disorders?
Research suggests that for those who are motivated to address concerns or interpersonal conflict related to a personality disorder, therapy is far more effective than no treatment, and that most people in therapy see improvements. However, since personality disorders involve entrenched elements of identity, they are less responsive to treatment than are other mental health conditions. Finding an expert who has extensive experience working with a given personality disorder is one factor that increases the likelihood of successful treatment.
