Therapy is a process of working together to help you identify your own strengths. I will help you experience new ways to create hope as well as solutions to the dilemmas you face. Therapy is very often chosen when people are stuck and don't know what else to do. This means that our coping style is probably no longer working. This becomes an opportunity to alter how we manage our emotions or behavior in order to be happier. As I get to know you, we will look at other more positive avenues to meet your goals, accept yourself, and learn to self-soothe.

Many of my clients are high-functioning, emotionally aware, and deeply tired. They often grew up in chaotic, emotionally neglectful, or high-pressure environments and learned to survive by being strong, responsible, or self-sufficient. Now they may struggle with anxiety, burnout, relationship patterns, people-pleasing, or feeling disconnected from themselves. They want to understand why they feel the way they do, feel more emotionally safe, and finally move out of survival mode into a life that feels more grounded, authentic, and sustainable.

Clients that have had therapy or indulge in self help practices are great clients. Building self esteem, dealing with addiction issues, couples and family issues, single/ dating issues and mood disorders are areas i have worked in for many years. Additionally, i work with families and individuals dealing with autism. I prefer clients that are looking for interactive therapy with the therapist and are open to homework which helps embed what is being learned.

I love doing therapy because it works! Healing and growth happen when you share deep inner wounds, thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe therapeutic space. Clients typically describe my sessions as grounding, compassionate, and insightful, with an atmosphere that encourages honest self-exploration and real, lasting change. My approach is client-centered. I strive to ensure that clients feel entirely accepted for who they are. I want them to know this is a space where they can be open about their experiences without fear of judgment. Every client has unique strengths and challenges, and my role is to honor that individuality.

I am certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy ( PCIT).
¡SÍ se puede! As a child of immigrants, I grappled with dilemmas of self-identity amidst the pressures of acculturation and assimilation. I embrace cultural diversity. Nonetheless, as a Latina I continue to fight against societal and cultural norms. How do you merge conflicting expectations and be at peace? My personal success with these issues, along with formal education and subsequent training have made me a strong bicultural therapist. Thus, I truly believe that memories and emotions are best processed in the language you experience them in because they are inextricably linked and are part of our identity.

Sometimes we must take a look at the painful or stressful feelings that complicate our lives and prevent us from finding satisfaction. Obstacles may stand in the way of leading more meaningful lives. We may feel stuck or helpless to take important steps, work toward goals and improve relationships. If you can relate, feeling anxious, sad, depressed, stressed, etc., perhaps it’s time for therapy. Anxiety is overwhelming, depression is often debilitating, and maybe you are wondering if therapy can help. Therapy provides the opportunity to explore feelings of depression, anxiety, helplessness or hopelessness.

As a cancer survivor myself, I know first hand how scary the "C" word is. As a result of cancer treatments, often times people develop mild to severe forms of depression, anxiety, "scanxiety," and post-traumatic stress disorder. Many people experience symptoms during treatment while others are symptomatic only after they are in full remission. My practice treats fellow warriors and their families that are navigating the cancer process, survivors trying to figure out their “new normal”, individuals in remission for years but are still processing the events that once happened, and those currently experiencing metastasized cancers.

Parent-Child Interaction (PCIT) Therapists
Does parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT) work?
PCIT is an evidence-based treatment that has been shown to be effective across domains, including for children with behavioral problems, those on the autism spectrum, and those who have experienced early childhood trauma. Further, studies have found that the skills developed through PCIT benefit not only the child in therapy but also siblings, as the parent internalizes lessons learned in sessions and is able to incorporate them into interactions with other family members.
How long does PCIT last?
The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and treatment lasts, on average, between 12 and 20 sessions. Factors that influence treatment duration include how regularly a client attends treatment, how much progress is achieved between sessions, the particular skills that need development, and the extent to which the parent and therapist see improvement.
Can PCIT be done online?
PCIT is among the therapy types best suited for video sessions. Therapists are able to communicate with parents with essentially the same ease, and by observing the parent and child at home in their normal environment, the therapist may gain additional insight into their interactions, as the child will have their normal toys and may feel more comfortable and act more naturally than they would in a therapist’s room.
Does PCIT help parents?
In addition to the skills parents develop through the treatment, PCIT has also been shown to reduce frustration, stress, and depression in parents and promote confidence and a sense of calm when dealing with their children. The desired outcomes of PCIT include a reduction in defiant and aggressive behavior by children and an improvement in communicating their feelings productively, complying with parental instruction, and behaving according to parents’ rules. Growth in these areas can be a relief for parents.
