If you identify as Poly/Non-monogamous, Kinky/fetishistic, Queer/Trans, or Anti-capitalist you already know the tyrannical way normativity polices “others” who deviate from conventional cultural scripts. Even more so when your preferred expressions of intimacy and embodiment are deemed “problematic”. I do not equate “healthy” with “normal”, nor aim to be prescriptive about how you “ought“ to experience being in this world. Living along the fringes of normativity isn’t an easy choice. But it can be a worthy choice, fulfilling and purposeful! Yet it may also be accompanied by high costs that feel compromising to dignity & self-worth.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, I earned a Bachelors Degree in Psychology with a Minor Focus on Gender Studies at CSUN which led me to appreciate the overlap of mental health and personal lived experience through a sociological lens. I then decided to pursue my Masters Degree in Social Work there as well. I’m passionate at supporting disenfranchised populations, specifically queer identifying people and BIPOC folx and have found working with and for my community to be a liberating, affirming, and empowering experience as a clinician and social worker.

Relationships can be hard, especially when most people didn't have an ideal one modeled for them as a child. I really admire people who want to improve their relational skills and mental health, who strive to be a better partner, friend, or parent. Therapy is the perfect place to grow these skills, and it's an honor to witness that growth.

I work with individuals and couples navigating identity, belonging, and relationships (especially within LGBTQIA+, kink/leather, and consensual non-monogamy communities), and those who've felt like outsiders due to race, queerness, or trauma. My interventions focus on shame, attachment, relational conflict, emotional regulation, and building a more authentic sense of self. I became a therapist out of a deep curiosity about people and a belief in the power of being truly seen, understood, and supported in creating meaningful change.

Hi! My name is Dani, and I work with individuals and couples who are repairing, growing, or perhaps thoughtfully ending a relationship—whether with a partner or within themselves. My approach is based in exploring what first connected you to someone or to a version of yourself: what clicked, what sustained you, and what you aim to see happen now. Starting with these origins often helps clarify both strengths and challenges.

Many clients come to me stuck between the person they have been and the person they want to become. They have learned to push themselves through pain, disconnection, and uncertainty, but it doesn’t bring lasting relief. Something deeper and more subtle is needed. Healing is not something to be obtained out in the world. It is already inside us, waiting to receive the right kind of support. Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you, but about supporting the capacity for growth you already have within you. I have witnessed this capacity come alive many times, even when it didn’t feel possible for a client.

I welcome and affirm all relationship structures and configurations including both hierarchical and non-hierarchical non-monogamy, relationship anarchy, & polyamory.
In a culture that equates your productivity to your self-worth, it can be a challenge to fully feel the pleasure in taking care of yourself. I reject the cultural beliefs that shame us and try to force us to endure, rather than enjoy. Seeking support is a show of strength, there is no shame in it, and you shouldn’t have to “tough it out” on your own or “just get by”. Whatever it is about your relationships, connections, or experiences with intimacy that brought you here deserves attention. I’m interested in helping you feel more like yourself, more alive, & more at ease in the world.

You might have found yourself lost in your own life, and are ready to come back home to yourself. Good for you! With both clinical and lived experience, I can help guide you on that road from a sex positive, trauma informed perspective. You might want to become more comfortable identifying what you want and asking for it, including your sexual desires. You and your partner might want to explore consensual non monogamy, responsibly and with care. You might want to learn how to attune with your partner, even during conflict. Or, you might want to change the way you respond to triggers, especially longstanding ones.

Feeling overwhelmed or emotionally drained? I work with individuals, couples, and teens who feel misunderstood or stuck in patterns that once helped them cope but now create distress. Many clients are navigating anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, identity exploration, relationship challenges, or major life transitions such as postpartum adjustment, divorce, faith shifts, or chronic stress. Together, we focus on building trust, developing healthier ways to cope, strengthening relationships, and creating a greater sense of emotional balance and clarity in everyday life.

We all desire belonging and connection, but relationships can be hard! Many of us grow up without role models for the type of intimacy we desire. We are stuck in roles we’ve been assigned and in stories that we’ve long outgrown. My clients want their relationships to work, but find themselves repeating the same cycles. Therapy is a collaborative space where we can rebuild relationship dynamics from the ground up. Whether working individually or with relationships, I work as a guide and collaborator, assisting you in building stronger connections with yourself and those around you.

Open Relationships Non-Monogamy Therapists
Why might an individual want to see a therapist specializing in open relationships and consensual non-monogamy?
A client seeking help with an open or consensually non-monogamous relationship will prefer to talk with a professional whom they can count on to be nonjudgmental. Talking with a supportive therapist may on its own help relieve some of the stigma and challenges partners face. That said, the most important factor in the success of any type of therapy is the ability of the client and practitioner to form a strong, trusting bond. For this reason, an individual or couple could find success with a therapist who does not specialize in non-monogamous relationships but with whom they can build trust.
When should open or consensually non-monogamous partners seek counseling?
Like other couples, polyamorous partners typically seek counseling when they face relationship challenges they can’t solve themselves. In non-monogamous relationships, this could include breaches of trust, including infidelity; unclear rules or violations of boundaries; jealousy of outside partners; the stress of juggling the needs of multiple partners; or the effect of high partner turnover on children. Like those of other couples, polyamorous bonds can be threatened by increasingly frequent arguments, poor or dysfunctional communication, diminished emotional or physical intimacy, or the feeling that something is wrong, even if they don’t know what it is.
Do therapists have special training to gain expertise in open relationships and consensual non-monogamy?
No, but individuals seeking help with non-monogamous relationships would most likely consult a licensed professional with specific training in couples counseling or couples therapy. Couples counseling and couples therapy both involve teaching concrete strategies to navigate conflict in relationships. A good therapist can engage both partners as they explain these approaches but can also work with a single partner.
How long does therapy for consensually non-monogamous couples typically last?
Couples therapy for any type of couple, tends to be relatively time-limited, lasting around 12 weeks on average. A good therapist will tailor sessions to the individual partners’ emotions and sometimes their past, along with patterns found to be repeating in the relationship. In many cases, clients should expect their therapist to assign “homework” between weekly sessions.
