Life often asks us to keep moving—caring for family, showing up at work, meeting expectations—while parts of ourselves get left behind. I work with people who feel the weight of that imbalance: professionals caught in the grind, parents stretched thin, or immigrants and children of immigrants navigating multiple identities. Despite seeming outwardly capable and dependable, they often feel unfulfilled, exhausted, or uncertain of who they are beyond the roles they play. In our work together, we will explore the root causes of these issues and find ways to reclaim your fullest sense of self.

I believe that a profound desire lies within each of us to thrive and live to our highest potential. I view therapy as a collaborative journey which encourages self-awareness and self-acceptance through the process of being present. In my work I seek to help my clients bring compassionate attention to the various dimensions of their emotional experience, may it be boundless joy or deep sadness. As we become more aware of our thoughts, feelings, and actions, we are better able to navigate through struggle and uncertainty.

Finding a therapist can be a daunting process.  Although there are many great therapists out there, it does not necessarily mean that each one is the right fit for you. With the belief that the relationship between client and therapist is central to growth and healing, my style is nurturing, client centered, collaborative, and empowering.  I provide a safe and non-judgmental space to support my clients in becoming more grounded and connected to their whole and authentic self.

Young adulthood is full of challenges: individuation, identity, belonging, and navigating family and cultural expectations. I work with bright teens and young adults who struggle to integrate their capable outward appearance with an anxious, self-critical, or disconnected inside. I bring a warm, collaborative presence to therapy, creating space for both humor and honest reflection while prioritizing a balance of support and challenge.

My treatment is body-centered and attachment-focused, weaving trauma-informed modalities like Hakomi, EMDR, IFS/parts work and EFT tapping as well as equine-assisted therapy (including equine-assisted EMDR).
Too often I witness clients grinding to “figure it out,” targeting themselves as the problem and isolating things to change so that they can be “better.” In truth - especially for those with early trauma - your body receives this relentless need to improve as a kind of violence, compounding internalized shame, fear, and unworthiness.

My approach is built on a range of frameworks: psychodynamics, wisdom traditions, Buddhist thought, EFT for couples, and IFS and EMDR for trauma.
I primarily work with men who want to do more than to just get by. My clients often want something beyond what's easily describable. They want to feel excited and grounded, purposeful and emotionally alive. I resonate with this pursuit, having followed unusual roads as a musician, filmmaker, entrepreneur and traveler. In therapy, I help high-functioning people navigate roadblocks, reduce anxiety, and feel more at peace. I see clients online and in person at my office in Los Feliz. Together we can explore how past patterns shape the present.

My approach draws from Relational Cultural Theory, somatic awareness, Internal Family Systems ( IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), narrative, and psychodynamic approaches.
I work with adults and teens who want to feel clearer about themselves and their relationships. Many of us develop protective ways of being that once helped us stay safe or connected, but now leave us feeling distant or stuck. As a therapist, I listen for what feels true beneath the layers of thought and habit that can keep us looping in familiar patterns. These thoughts and reactions are meaningful; they reflect our histories, relationships, and the systems that have shaped us. In therapy, we make space to understand their purpose and begin relating to them in new ways so you can feel more empowered and aligned with your purpose.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
