In addition to working with depression, anxiety, life transitions, and relationships, these are a few of my specialties: Addiction, eating & body, parenting and
infertility
.
Sometimes it can feel like everyone else is doing so much better than you are. You might look around and wonder, why am I not where I thought I would be at in this point in my life? Am I not good enough, smart enough, or brave enough? Is there someone to blame? Is it because my body is broken, or my heart, or all of the above? I know that life is complex. I know that bravery and resilience come in many forms. I want to partner with you on this journey and help you remember things that you may have forgotten about yourself. I’ve witnessed people change their lives in ways that they would have thought were unimaginable. You can too.

My work often focuses on working with clients experiencing trauma, anxiety, couples/relationship issues, and
infertility
.
Hi, thank you for reading a snapshot of my work. After completing undergraduate studies in psychology, I detoured into high-stress corporate fields of advertising and finance. Those years of experience and my own therapy kept me close to my interest in mental health. It led me to earning an MA in psychology to become a therapist. While at a nonprofit, I gained experience working with individuals, couples, and groups. In this work, it is important for me that you feel seen, heard, and your voice upheld as a guidepost. Coming from a diverse family, I appreciate the complexities of building your self identity and having sense of self.

infertility
treatment can be emotionally, physically or financially overwhelming.

Adulting is already hard enough; throw in
infertility
, postpartum depression/anxiety, pregnancy following loss (heIlo, anxiety!), loss/grief/bereavement, trauma, relationship/communication issues, boundaries and family conflict and now you've got discomfort, unpleasant feelings, disconnection and stress. While we may not be able to change all of the obstacles in your life, we can certainly work collaboratively to adjust expectations, reinforce coping skills, strengthen resilience, improve communication skills, set boundaries, process trauma and elicit clarity and direction. (This is a small, boutique group Telehealth practice).

I love helping couples (new and veteran) discover the underlying needs below their too-frequent bickering (read: fighting). It's magic when clients begin to see each other and communicate in new ways. I'm also passionate about helping individuals find new tools for navigating anxiety, depression, OCD, and BPD. There's nothing better than a client reporting that skills we practiced in session helped them find relief. Another speciality I have is supporting women (and their partners) with all things perinatal:
infertility
, miscarriage, maternal mental health, and parenting challenges. It really takes a village.

Infertility Therapists
How can infertility affect couples and their relationship?
Clients who are dealing with infertility may experience conflict and communication problems. It’s not unusual for shame, blame, and guilt to arise in cases of infertility, whether the source of the problem is one partner or both. This means that clients are upset and pulling away from their partner just when they need them the most. Some clients may find it difficult to spend time around friends and family who are pregnant. Friends and family can also make hurtful comments that increase tension during this time.
How does therapy for infertility issues work?
The therapist will begin by gathering information about the client or couple and make a treatment plan for their specific concerns. In addition to addressing common mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma reactions or PTSD, therapists can help clients improve their decision-making and deal with stressors unique to infertility. Some examples include coping with the “two-week wait” before a pregnancy test, the distress associated with a failed attempt or miscarriage, and the shame and blame sometimes associated with reproductive concerns.
What type of therapy is best for infertility issues?
Many therapists offer psychotherapy for individuals and couples who are dealing with infertility issues. Some helpful therapeutic approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which can aid clients in reframing negative thoughts about their situation. Expressive writing and art therapy can help clients process difficult feelings. Clients might also benefit from group therapy to experience support from others who are dealing with the same problems.
How long does therapy for infertility issues take?
There is no set length for therapy that addresses infertility or reproductive concerns. Some clients might find it helpful to continue therapy during their pregnancy to have healthy ways to cope with any associated stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma. Some clients who decide not to pursue fertility treatments might benefit from the support of a therapist. The duration of therapy varies depending on the individual client’s specific needs and goals.
