My work is to help you work through difficult emotions and symptoms, support major life transitions, and to link
family
systems and emotional history with your personal spiritual work.
My clients see life as a journey of learning, growth, and introspection. You have a spiritual practice or a personal relationship with spirit, land, the unseen world. Some may have had damaging experiences with religion or experienced their childhood religion as disempowering. Others may be having spiritual emergence or spiritual emergency including integrating spiritual practices or plant medicine journeys. Some just want to deepen their understanding of their spiritual experiences and want a supportive ear for psychic experiences.

I utilize psychodynamic approaches to help gain insight into the origins of your thoughts and feelings, examine your attachment style to help make sense of how you show up in your relationships with others, and exploration of unresolved trauma (including multi-generational history of
family
trauma) to help you let go of guilt and shame you may be carrying.
You’ve been stuck in “autopilot mode” for a while, but the dissatisfaction has become almost impossible to ignore. It can feel like there’s a voice deep down in your body, screaming at the top of its lungs to be heard, but the idea of acknowledging and confronting your anxieties alone seems impossible to bear. On the outside, it looks like you “have it all together,” but in reality, you spend the entire day in your head, and walk on eggshells to avoid conflict or making others uncomfortable. It may sound surprising, but these could be signs that you are in “survival mode." You may feel stuck or disconnected, but there is hope.

What is often left unsaid is your step to a better life, so let's start talking. It's possible you are struggling to find or maintain healthy relationships, or when you do- find yourself unfulfilled, lonely, or involved in a difficult breakup. Suddenly, feelings of sadness and anxiety are keeping you from being you. It’s hard to know where things keep going wrong and how to move forward with feelings of sadness and anxiety- until now.

My background is in both residential and outpatient settings, including group, individual,
family
, and couples therapy with dual diagnosis for both addiction and psychiatric diagnoses.
Hi, I'm Jennifer. I became a therapist by first being introduced to therapy as a client myself. I had difficulty finding a good fit and felt I could be an effective therapist myself. Are you feeling anxious about the prospect of beginning or resuming therapy? Maybe you fear judgment in telling your story to someone else? I found it exhausting to retell my story each time I began with a new therapist, but I eventually found a good fit and was able to get the treatment I needed. I use a nonjudgmental stance in my approach in order to optimize healing and allow for personal growth in a safe space.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
