I am passionate about helping a
child
or teen struggling to manage emotional or behavioral disturbances. They may be struggling with depression or anxiety that comes as a result of trauma or significant loss, or that arises out of every day pressure to do well in school or extracurriculars. Growing up comes with growing pains, and therapy is no different. I want my clients (and their families) to be motivated to participate and engage in sessions, and practice learned skills in their home, school, and community. I hope my clients develop self confidence and begin to take ownership over treatment, and over their mental health.

children
, adolescents, and young adults, taking an active role in pursuing appropriate accommodations in and out of the classroom. I have worked with
children

My assessments help clarify their learning style, strengths, and weaknesses, and map out a plan for their academic and psychological success.

I provide both short-term, solution-focused therapy and longer-term, process-oriented therapy for both
children
and adults.
I believe therapy is about connection. Therapy is based on the connection with your therapist to create a meaningful, supportive space to explore your most vulnerable emotions. Therapy can help you strengthen your connection with the people in your life in a positive and hopeful way. And most of all, therapy can grow your connection to your most authentic self. Therapy can help guide and support you through times of stress, build communication and interpersonal skills, and develop a deep understanding of who you are and what you want out of life.

I see
children
and adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, strains in romantic and family relationships, low self-esteem and body image, unhealthy coping habits, and grief and loss.
The therapeutic process has the ability to transform. I am living proof of this. At my lowest point, I was anxious, depressed, suicidal, and trapped in addictions. With the help of a skilled therapist, I was able to come out of this darkness - inspiring me to leave the business world in order to help others who are suffering. I believe that everyone deserves a fighting chance to overcome trauma and abuse and live a rich, full, and satisfying life. I believe that we can change and grow at any time in our lives. I believe in the beauty, resiliency, and strength of the human spirit. I believe that we are all worthy and capable of love.

doesn't always have the desired outcome. Feeling worn out? It’s time to try something different. Therapy can help your
child
better navigate the ups and downs of life AND support you in your role as a parent.

Your
child
is a source of light. But perhaps you've noticed their light has dimmed recently and you feel concerned. Perhaps your teen is falling behind in school, having difficulty connecting with their friends, or experiencing confusion as they explore their gender identity. Your young
child
may be having anger outbursts or challenges with their behavior at home. Adjusting to the ever-changing COVID-19 lifestyle might be causing worries and changes in mood or personality. Or your
child
might have experienced a major stressor like divorce, a death in the family, or even a traumatic event like a car accident or an act of violence.

I collaborate with individuals and families to help reach their goals of feeling more content, balanced, and connected with themselves and others. My treatment approach focuses on the strengths a person already possesses while enhancing their knowledge about stress and anxiety. With this, individuals feel more empowered and confident to tackle and manage everyday challenges and stressors at school or work, in relationships, and with thoughts and emotions. Through evidenced based practices, I integrate client preferences and feedback into treatment, allowing clients to develop a sense of agency over their own treatment.

Child Therapists
Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.
How long are sessions with child therapists?
Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.
How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?
The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.
How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
