Are you concerned about your child? Are you going through a difficult time with them? Is your child seeking a safe space for them to process their thoughts and emotions? My child and
teen
clients respond well to a gentle and kind atmosphere, here they are willing to express themselves, release emotions and talk about problems at home and at school that bring them to therapy. Sometimes they are struggling with depression or anxiety that comes as a result of trauma or significant loss, or that arises out of everyday pressure to do well in school or extracurriculars.

Adolescent
Mental Health, Art Therapy, and Addiction.
I work with teens and adults struggling with unresolved trauma, relational issues, existential fear, grief, gender dysphoria, self-harm, addiction, anxiety, and depression. I work from a psychodynamic lens, which means looking at my client’s past as a means of informing the present and helping them discover the unconscious blind spots that unknowingly contribute to their distress. I am passionate about helping to reconcile past trauma such as abuse, bullying, oppression, and toxic relationships. I also work with families and couples stuck in destructive patterns and having the same fight over and over.

Are you struggling with overwhelming emotions? Have you experienced loss, trauma, or other challenges? I am here for you, to help you overcome the emotional pain of past experiences. As a
teen
, I myself personally experienced the devastating losses of multiple loved ones. Through my own heartbreak, emotional pain, and grief, I was even more inspired to comfort and sit with others during their most challenging times. Funny thing is: I knew I wanted to become a psychotherapist before I even know what a therapist was! I feel so lucky today to counsel clients with such diverse and different stories, backgrounds, and experiences.

I help kids, grownups, and everyone in between find their own True Voice, so they can live the lives they deserve.
Maybe your child is misbehaving at school, or your
teenager
is sullen and distanced, or you're in love and know you'd like to stay with this person, if you could only change a few things that really scare you. Or maybe there's an aggressive part of you that your parents didn't know how to handle, or a hurt and vulnerable side that you've always felt too ashamed to feel.

These are uncertain times! You know you could use some support, that you want to feel better, maybe less anxious, so you came to this website. Congratulations on taking the first step. However, you've been scrolling the pages on this site for a while and every therapist is beginning to look the same, and every blurb sound alike. It's hard to find a therapist, especially if you don't have a personal referral from a friend or colleague. Let's talk on the phone for 10 mins to figure out what you're looking for right now, see if we're a good fit and discuss how I can help.

I am passionate about helping a child or
teen
struggling to manage emotional or behavioral disturbances. They may be struggling with depression or anxiety that comes as a result of trauma or significant loss, or that arises out of every day pressure to do well in school or extracurriculars. Growing up comes with growing pains, and therapy is no different. I want my clients (and their families) to be motivated to participate and engage in sessions, and practice learned skills in their home, school, and community. I hope my clients develop self confidence and begin to take ownership over treatment, and over their mental health.

I will encourage self-exploration, self-expression, and transformation, whether you seek therapy for yourself, your
teen
, or with your partner.
Maybe you remember this scene from a movie; picture it, a peaceful airplane ride becomes turbulent. The plane begins losing altitude rapidly. The flight attendant urgently instructs you to "put your oxygen mask on first" before helping others. That simple, but critical statement, is just as important in our everyday lives. Remembering to take time to yourself, non selfishly, can be difficult for anyone who tends to place others' needs first. Together, we'll explore your thoughts, feelings, decisions, choices, wants, and needs in your therapy. I will assist you in" finding your voice" and help you to "put your oxygen mask on first.

What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
