Traumatic experiences destroy trust and separate us from ourselves, leaving us in pain and fear. Using a wellness-focused, strengths-based, skill building, problem solving-approach, I support your journey in life's difficult times and situations of grief, loss, anxiety, depression, trauma , PTSD , aging, life transitions, chronic pain, chronic illness, cultural/ethnic diversity injustice, and meaning of life questions.

Anxiety and depression are on the rise in our fast-pace world, which causes needless suffering. My clients are typically open to creative interventions and learning new habits. Many have wounds from the past, stemming from trauma or subtle messages from their environment. I care deeply about challenges for the LGBTQ+ community. Because happiness and success depend on a sense of connectedness, my clients seek to improve the quality of their relationships. Just about everybody seeks to become more attentive to the present moment. My clients bravely face and embrace their obstacles. I love working with clients on the autism spectrum.

My work experience has been mainly with adults who have experienced depression, anxiety, trauma , and PTSD .
My goal is to help patients increase self-awareness, increase coping skills to manage symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and trauma . Most importantly, I provide a safe and welcoming therapeutic environment in which patients can explore their symptoms, feelings, and life difficulties. By working together through the therapeutic process, I guide patients into a path of self-discovery and empowerment to develop into healthy and whole individuals. I believe that experiencing hardships can be seen as an invitation to learn more about ourselves and evolve in our life journey to reach our highest potential.

Not to be rude, but I would like to hear all about your sex life. Let's chat about your sex addiction, porn addiction, sexual dysfunction & intimacy issues. We’ll address the underlying trauma and dismantle that debilitating shame. I offer EMDR as an option should we decide it's the right approach for you. I also work with couples because I learned in a grad school class that, apparently, relationships can be difficult. Couples therapy is pretty cool because when you don’t want to answer my question, you just turn to your partner and say, “You first. I love hearing about your feelings."

I utilize a person-centered therapeutic approach while incorporating components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Narrative Exposure, Trauma -Informed Therapies & Mindfulness-Based techniques. I specialize in working with folks who have experienced complex trauma .

I work through a trauma -informed approach and I have experience in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT).
If you're struggling with anxiety, panic, and stress you're not alone - it can be scary and isolating managing these thoughts. My work focuses on creating a holding space where we can explore thoughts, patterns, family dynamics, and life experiences in a collaborative format where you take the lead. There is healing in transforming our negative core beliefs (those typically and surprisingly start before age 7) and creating an updated narrative. I hope that together we can create a space of curiosity and gentleness as we unpack thoughts/feelings and learn strategies to reduce stress.

The decision to seek therapy takes an enormous amount of courage, and marks a new stage of one’s life. Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
