You have the right and potential to be happy and living the life you want to be. Growth comes when we are able to let go of the need to be certain and embrace self-exploration. We may find ourselves suffering silently or blatantly out loud to the stressors that co-exist with us in our day-to-day lives. Holistic therapy allows for that unique experience to gain and practice the ability to look at self, develop skills to be vulnerable, love + let love in. I offer online 1-on-1, as well as, online courses, workshops, and retreats to fit your needs + preferences.

My therapeutic practice involves a gentle, safe and collaborative approach in the treatment of
trauma
, anxiety, depression, grief and early relational wounds. We accomplish this process through psychodynamic theory and body oriented methods such as Somatic Experiencing which integrates neuroscience, mindfulness, and attachment theory. The nervous system is the pathway between the mind and the body where many of our past experiences and feelings are stored and often "stuck" causing emotional and physical pain. The goal of therapy is to release these unaccessed areas and strengthen one's sense of self, find resiliency and tolerance and have the capacity to build solid interpersonal relationships.

trauma
, grief, anxiety, and life transitions at your own pace.
I think it’s safe to say life is hard. There is so much going on in the world and in our lives that it can be hard to navigate everything that is placed in front of us. We all go through struggles and challenges and it’s okay to seek professional help for them. Growing up as a Chinese American, I recognize the complexities of family and social dynamics and how it can have an immense impact in who we become and how we view ourselves.

I utilize psychodynamic approaches to help gain insight into the origins of your thoughts and feelings, examine your attachment style to help make sense of how you show up in your relationships with others, and exploration of unresolved
trauma
(including multi-generational history of family
trauma
) to help you let go of guilt and shame you may be carrying.
You’ve been stuck in “autopilot mode” for a while, but the dissatisfaction has become almost impossible to ignore. It can feel like there’s a voice deep down in your body, screaming at the top of its lungs to be heard, but the idea of acknowledging and confronting your anxieties alone seems impossible to bear. On the outside, it looks like you “have it all together,” but in reality, you spend the entire day in your head, and walk on eggshells to avoid conflict or making others uncomfortable. It may sound surprising, but these could be signs that you are in “survival mode." You may feel stuck or disconnected, but there is hope.

Do you feel stuck in a cycle of dysfunctional relationships and self-destructive patterns in your life? Are symptoms of anxiety and depression diminishing your quality of life? Do painful memories of the past continue to bother you? Have you tried to resolve these problems on your own or through traditional talk therapy with little success? Most treatment models fail to identify and address the
trauma
that underlies so many of the problems that people seek help for. A
trauma
-informed approach to treatment is necessary in order to fully resolve the root of the issues and create meaningful and lasting change.

Our life experiences can lead us to question our identity and purpose in the world we live in. This can lead us to anxiety, depression, and
trauma
. Do you want to improve how you face challenges, function in your relationships, and face overwhelming feelings? I place heavy importance on addressing
trauma
.
Trauma
disintegrates the parts that make up your whole self, which can leave aspects of who you are hidden from your awareness. Left unaddressed, anxiety and depression can worsen, which can rob you of the necessary connection that all human beings need to thrive. I aim to help you process unresolved
trauma
.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
