Parenting
is the most important but toughest job on the planet. But
parenting
is REALLY tough when your child is struggling. It's painful to watch their daily life interrupted by too many worries, anger outbursts or bouts of sadness. You want so badly to help, but although you've tried, engaging with your child doesn't always have the desired outcome. Feeling worn out? It’s time to try something different. Therapy can help your child better navigate the ups and downs of life AND support you in your role as a
parent
.

In addition to working with depression, anxiety, life transitions, and relationships, these are a few of my specialties: Addiction, eating & body,
parenting
and infertility.
Sometimes it can feel like everyone else is doing so much better than you are. You might look around and wonder, why am I not where I thought I would be at in this point in my life? Am I not good enough, smart enough, or brave enough? Is there someone to blame? Is it because my body is broken, or my heart, or all of the above? I know that life is complex. I know that bravery and resilience come in many forms. I want to partner with you on this journey and help you remember things that you may have forgotten about yourself. I’ve witnessed people change their lives in ways that they would have thought were unimaginable. You can too.

In life there is pain. Painful experiences growing up that stay inside and manifest in our everyday behavior and internal struggles. In my work, whether the person is a child, teen, young adult,
parent
, or woman, I aim to provide a space of compassion and safety from which to understand the world around us (relationships, school, work, friendships) and the internal world within us (thoughts, emotions, pain, discomfort). The goal in my work is to help you/your child get in touch with, tune in, and understand themselves; in particular thoughts and feelings.

Sex Addiction & Parenting: Betrayal In Families

I have been a therapist &
parenting
specialist for over 25yrs.
Families are greatly impacted by betrayal, infidelity and sex addiction. As parents struggle to orient themselves to a new reality in the face of betrayal, it can be overwhelming and painful for a
parent
to recognize the immediate and future impact on their children. Well meaning parents can unintentionally make serious mistakes in managing the family during this painful and confusing time. You may have questions at this time such as “How is the tension in the household affecting our child?" and “Is our child internalizing emotional pain that we can't see?”

This program was built to help clients and their families find support systems they can relate to, by providing a mentor or
parent
coach who can help them learn how to implement new tools and coping skills.
We specialize in working with adolescents, young adults, and their families who are struggling to support the client and help them learn how to cope with the world. Wether they are dealing with anxiety, depression, substance use (experimenting or advanced), ASD, failure-to-launch or just teen angst- we pair each client with a therapeutic mentor who is close in age and relatable, who can work with the client one-on-one out in the community where they are experiencing difficulties and help them learn the tools to be successful. Regardless of what they are facing, our mentors are trained to help support clients in facing their issues.

I do provide out of network superbills for reimbursement for all others though! Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
