My therapeutic approach mainly focuses on helping my clients identify their strengths to help alleviate anxiety, depression, and trauma. I am a firm believer that our childhood experiences contribute to our beliefs, behavioral patterns, and selecting a romantic partner. Therapy is a process! To allow ourselves to be intimate and vulnerable with someone about our experiences and trauma can be daunting. As a therapist, it is my goal to help validate, create a safe environment and help understand aspects of lived experiences.

As a therapist, I know how difficult it can be to juggle all that life expects of us while experiencing mental or emotional distress. Whether it’s unwanted anxious thoughts, healing from a past trauma, or feeling stuck in your relationships, you are not alone. I work from an attachment-based model with a focus on the mind-body connection in order to help clients more deeply understand where they are holding hurt and why. I will provide a warm and safe space, free of judgment, for us to explore your past and present in order to work toward a more peaceful and fulfilling future.

I view things through a psychodynamic and attachment-based lens, but I often take an integrative approach and pull from different modalities based on your needs.
My passion lies in helping you find your path to increased happiness and living a life that is authentically yours. Through our conversations, you will gain deeper insight into elements in your life that might be challenging to shift. Together we will work to understand your experiences, process feelings and create inner peace and acceptance from within.

People come to me when they feel overwhelmed by their emotions, stuck in spirals of anxiety, depression, or trauma responses. I provide one-on-one, couples, and group therapy to help people explore their identities and relationship issues so that they can overcome the walls they have unintentionally created that may be shutting others out. I tend to work best with those who are curious about themselves and eager to grow.

My goal as a therapist is to create a safe space for you to freely express your thoughts and feelings about life's complexities. Together we will work on making changes to benefit your life. I believe everyone is capable of change, but does not know how or want to put in the work. I want to motivate you to succeed at creating the life that you want. I often tell people that looking for a therapist is like finding the right pair of shoes, sometimes you get lucky on that first try and other times you need to keep looking. Please don't hesitate to call me.

Yes, parenting feels hard, because it is hard. You are probably here because of your concerns for your child’s intense emotions and behaviors. It may be the tantrums that never seem to stop, or the biting and the hitting that feel too intense. It may be the rising anxiety and worries that your child is struggling with. Perhaps you feel depleted and lost from sifting through strategy after strategy while struggling to balance family life, relationships, work, and day-to-day chores. Has it been challenging for you to simply enjoy your child because you feel consumed by guilt, frustration, and worry as a parent? You are not alone.

My practice focuses on relationship-building whether it be with a love interest, partner, immediate/extended family members, the workplace, etc. Whatever methodology (CBT, IFS, hypnosis and more) I use creates multi-layered assessment of response to crisis, trauma, separation, alienation, etc. In relationship we are challenged to explore identity, values, self-worth and sense of belonging that give you the tools to be successful. Included in the work are homework assignments and setting short-term and long-term goals. In this way profound and lasting changes can be made in a short period of time.

I really enjoy working with first timers to therapy, as much as I enjoy people who've seen many therapists. I often work with artists, professionals (entertainment, corporate, attorneys, etc), caregivers, entrepreneurs, other healthcare professionals and people from all walks of life. Sometimes they seek self compassion, with a desire to know self love, others want to know themselves on a deeper level, and most are looking to heal from trauma and adversity. Whatever the reason, we focus on shedding light on strengths, pain, wellness, and connecting with one's true, authentic self.

Welcome. I am so glad you are here. Does anxiety throw you into the future (and it is never a future you actually want)? Do you find yourself catastrophizing, mentally preparing for atrocities that are not likely to occur? Do depression, shame and guilt, pull you back in time with old negative beliefs that weren’t yours to begin with? Do hyper vigilant parts of you, show up with flashbacks, nightmares or dissociation? Do these too keep you in the past? Kurt Vonnegut’s famous science fiction novel, “Slaughter House-five,” describes a soldier in the war zone becoming “unstuck in time.” This is what trauma feels like for many people.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
