I am passionate about mental health and helping you live the life you really want, the way you really want to live it.
My approach blends years of experience with natural compassion, humor and insight. I'm not a passive therapist. I'm interactive in sessions, using a holistic, relational approach with techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), psychodynamic and narrative. I've spent twenty years working with adults and adolescents with issues from anxiety and depression to bipolar and PTSD. I help individuals and families develop emotional strength, clarity and confidence. I join with you to explore patterns, identify goals, and learn skills to facilitate growth and recognize potential for change.

If you don’t mind a few movie references, humor, and honesty, I welcome you to contact me for a free consult so we can explore your needs and you can start the process of living your best life .
Anxiety, depressive feelings, afraid of where the future may lead, or trying to figure out how to get over initial humps are common, but may also feel emotionally and physically draining. Therapy should be thoughtful, supportive, and provide a sense of safety for you to be yourself. This is the environment I look to create so that you can gain a deeper sense of self, and explore old thinking patterns and behaviors that may be preventing you from moving forward. I can offer a fresh perspective to help you re-frame those negative thoughts in a more productive direction.

We use to have hard times whenever faced by difficulties that challenge our ego. Most of the time, we tend to avoid coping with these challenges, or we do deal with them in destructive ways, mainly because of not having learned more assertive functional ways to take care of ourselves, relationships and circumstances in life . My approach is focused on promoting your insight about why you think, feel and react the ways you do, supporting you to take advantage of your own potentials, improve skills and guiding you on taking good care of your core needs and expectations.

Do you feel like there must be more to life ? Do you feel stuck, frustrated, detached, or uninspired? Work, caregiving, or other life stressors have you feeling burnout? Somehow, despite the persistent demands on you and your time, you feel bored. You feel drained and exhausted but can’t sleep. You are working so hard but feel increasingly cynical about the impact of your efforts. Maybe you can identify the kinds of things you'd like to do, that next professional step you’d like to take or that healthy habit you know will make you feel better, but are having trouble acting on those desires.

Life gets difficult. -Our distress may make us uncomfortable, overwhelmed, anxious, angry, sad and/or depressed. -Maybe we experienced a job loss, have to move, had a significant relationship end, or experienced a major shift, change, or transition in our life . -Really, we want to feel "better" and "happier", but how do we get there? Short-term counseling or coaching can help and sometimes we needed to address deeper issues and patterns through psychotherapy. Each of us is different, but maybe you found your way here because you are ready to let go, ready to grow, and ready for something new, different, and better for your life .

Have you had sleep disturbances due to nightmares? Do you have memories of a terrible event in your life that you can’t seem to get rid of no matter what you try? Do you have anxiety, addiction, and depression? Trauma can leave you struggling with upsetting emotions, memories, and anxiety that won't go away. It can leave you feeling numb, disconnected, and unable to trust other people. It can also cause your brain to remain in a state of hypervigilance, suppressing your impulse control, and trapping you in a state of strong emotional reactivity.

Speak your heart, live your truth! Are you feeling overwhelmed with the direction of your life ? Is your job not emotionally or financially satisfying? Do you find yourself having difficult, short-lived relationships, or worse - none at all? Is depression and/or anxiety wearing you down? It is my experience that our difficulties and problems are primarily determined by reactions to how we think and feel. I can help you understand how your thoughts and feelings prevent you from getting what you want, and then help you find ways of creating more success in the areas you desire to change.

My areas of emphasis include depression, anxiety, PTSD/ trauma recovery, workplace stress, life & career transitions, and artist & entrepreneur support.
There are countless stories and ideas we're told about who we can and should be! More successful, more actualized, richer, taller, thinner- with all that noise around us, it is often hard to hear our own voice telling us what we value, what makes us feel alive, what is worth our energy and attention. When we feel stuck or weighed down by trauma, depression, anxiety, or systemic injustice, it’s especially hard to access our preferences, inner resources, and community. Our voice gets lost or neglected. This is my commitment to you in our work – to make space for your voice.

Would you like to let go of concerns about your weight and body image? Is emotional eating one of your primary coping mechanisms? Many women, across the life span, struggle with issues around food, their bodies, and self confidence. Stress, all-or-nothing thinking, and perfectionism, among other issues, can all get in the way of living more fully. I work holistically with women, as I believe that all aspects of our lives, from sleep and nutrition to relationships or past trauma, are integrally related. We will work together to develop the insight, skills, and tools you'll need to achieve your goals.

Life Coaching Therapists

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
