I specialize in working with people in LGBTQ+ communities, addictions, borderline personality, complex trauma, and
anxiety
disorders.
I see therapy as a collaborative process exploring how the past informs the present and allowing trust and authenticity to foster insight and development. I strive to provide the highest quality of care, focusing on the unique needs of each individual and creating a safe environment with room for challenges, exploration, process, and growth. I help clients learn and practice skills for tolerating pain in times of crisis, responding instead of reacting, increasing self-respect, improving relationships, and participating fully in each moment. My ultimate goal is to help my clients build and nurture a life they feel is worth living.

It is possible to overcome symptoms like
anxiety
, depression, codependency, lack of self-worth, or destructive behaviors.
If you're here, something may not be working for you, and that's ok. When you're struggling, it can affect how you think, feel, and act. Emotional and mental health will also determine how you handle stress, relate to others, and affect your ability to make healthy choices. Asking for help is a sign of your strength and dedication to the life you want to build. Working together will allow you to begin building a foundation that respects and honors the importance of your mental health. We can not change the past, but together we will discover ways to reclaim your mind, body, and spirit while releasing what no longer serves you.

My experience comes from working with folks struggling with addictive and compulsive behaviors as well as individuals struggling with trauma, identity exploration, transitional life issues, relational conflict,
anxiety
, and depression.
You might be wondering what makes a therapeutic relationship different from other relationships in our lives. When we consider how many of our struggles and how much of our pain relates to our earliest experiences in relationships, is it any wonder that this is where the healing happens too? It is in these safe and trusting therapeutic relationships where we can start to reveal ourselves and move towards healing. I am a relaxed, compassionate, and collaborative clinician who will work with you to create a safe relationship and having a life worth living.

Hello and welcome. So let's start by dispelling the common misconception that therapy is for the weak and broken. This could not be more untrue. Therapy is for the bold and intrepid. Therapy is for those who are unwilling to accept how things are and choose instead to brave the roads less traveled in search of something better. So whether your dissatisfaction lies in patterns that you can't seem to break free of, turbulent relationships with partners, family or friends, or in the daunting challenges posed by depression,
anxiety
, grief et al., your insistence for change not only should never be shamed, it should be deeply admired.

Sometimes we need help managing
anxiety
, depression, life stressors, relationship struggles, self-esteem, trauma, loss, or alcohol and substance use. It's more than ok to ask for help. Are you struggling with
anxiety
or depression? Is it difficult to manage life's demands that keep piling up? Do you need help communicating with others or want to work on your relationships? Are you hard on yourself and want to grow in self-love? Do you struggle with past hurts and wonder how it is affecting your current life? Do you need a safe, non-judgmental space, to discuss your life apart from friends and family?

I specialize in working with people who want to improve their relationships;
anxiety
and depression; professional and personal transition; individuals and couples in recovery; as well as grief and loss.
What is keeping you from living the life you want?
Psychotherapy can be a powerful tool to identify goals and remove obstacles that may be preventing you from experiencing more fulfilling relationships with yourself, your career, and other people.
If you are experiencing depression or
anxiety
, abusing substances, or having relationship difficulty, the process of therapy can be a useful way to discover how to create change. By exploring current and historical patterns, a greater awareness and understanding can emerge, allowing for more choice.

Anxiety
, depressive feelings, afraid of where the future may lead, or trying to figure out how to get over initial humps are common, but may also feel emotionally and physically draining. Therapy should be thoughtful, supportive, and provide a sense of safety for you to be yourself. This is the environment I look to create so that you can gain a deeper sense of self, and explore old thinking patterns and behaviors that may be preventing you from moving forward. I can offer a fresh perspective to help you re-frame those negative thoughts in a more productive direction.

I believe therapy is a process in which people nurture their strengths and understand the experiences that have shaped their lives. Together we will work holistically, while we explore the thoughts that bring us joy and the triggers that cause us pain and sadness. With over 15 years of experience working with adults and teens, I have helped people who live with PTSD, depression,
anxiety
, and psychotic disorders live fuller and happier lives. Sessions with me are a very interactive process that blends cognitive based therapy and mindful practices with natural humor and compassion.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
