I help my clients build a more powerful and connected self with psychoanalytic and Jungian approaches.
I offer in person, outdoor garden sessions and do phone when that's not possible. I imagine you have a feeling therapy can help, though part of you might be scared to try. I laugh a lot with my clients and even though sometimes the work can be painful, my clients usually begin to feel better and keep coming. I work well with creative people, BIPOC, and across the spectrums of straight to LBGTQ - and mono to poly. With specializations in Psychoanalytic, and Jungian therapy, I also draw on mindfulness and narrative approaches to help you thrive.

My therapeutic approach comes mainly from Jungian Psychology and somatic experience, although I am also eclectic and borrow from other approaches depending on the client's unique needs.
I am a bilingual (Spanish/English) Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have been working in this field for over 20 years. I have worked with children and families, adolescents, groups, and adults suffering from anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, stress, life changes, self-esteem issues, and an array of mental, emotional and relational concerns. I bring a spiritual approach to our sessions to assist you in not only alleviating your symptoms but also in being able to live as the best version of yourself.

Jungian analysis assumes that what is currently unconscious plays a part in keeping us in dysfunctional patterns.
People enter into therapy for many reasons. Often the catalyst is difficulty with a relationship, a job, or a way of coping. Anxiety and depression can provide the stimulus to seek help. When they intrude into everyday waking consciousness they are indicators that something is out of balance and needs to be addressed. Areas of particular interest within my practice are parent-child difficulties, especially the early stages of parenting; relationships; finding one's voice and inner authority; creativity; grief and loss; and the struggle to live one's own life.

I bring a strength based approach with some Jungian sprinkled in.
Taking clients in Tennessee and California. My clients range from adolescents to adults that struggle with identity, anxiety and depression. My clients appreciate my warmth and patience, and I strive to give them the space to explore the gremlins in their head. I am Latinx, and an art therapist. Therapy is not just a place to explore, but to have a space focused specifically on you. I value my client's needs, constantly checking in, pushing when pushing is needed, and being still when stillness is needed. Email is best: jenniferwilliams@perfectlyimperfectly.com

Many of us have experienced difficulties in our lives that have shaped us into who we are today. Often times these experiences leave traumatic scars, mentally and physically, that can result in negative beliefs about yourself or others. Maybe these beliefs served a purpose to shield us from these traumas at the time, but today are no longer beneficial, and in fact are keeping us from achieving our full potential. Whether you want to achieve greater self-awareness, build stronger relationships, heal past wounds, or just feel better, I can help you transform those experiences and negative beliefs into a new and better way of being you

Your issues, needs, and goals might include how to find balance in daily life, resolving relationship or family conflicts, questioning gender, processing trauma, or how to best navigate any of life's transitions. I allow what comes up in the room to guide how we will work together--which might mean we look at and process the past, or stay in the here-and-now, or a combination of both. I approach each client anew, drawing on a number of modalities, with the understanding that each person's needs are unique.

Sometimes we encounter problems or life changes that are difficult to face, causing us to feel overwhelmed, unworthy, and isolated. We are often inundated with messages about how we ought to live our lives, dictating the way we are supposed to look, behave, and even feel. Our goals and values can feel out of reach; I aim to bring these forward by offering a supportive, collaborative, and empowering therapeutic environment.

Previously employed at SpaceX as their in-house psychotherapist, I provide step-by-step guidance on how to stop wasting valuable time and energy on things you cannot control. Through the latest neuroscience research, I extend knowledge and concrete exercises that build healthy and resilient neuropathways. I tailor each session to practice how to be present to each new experience, instead of holding onto the past and focusing too much on the future. I create a comforting space for deep introspection and self awareness for you to reinvent yourself for ultimate success in all areas of life.

There are countless stories and ideas we're told about who we can and should be! More successful, more actualized, richer, taller, thinner- with all that noise around us, it is often hard to hear our own voice telling us what we value, what makes us feel alive, what is worth our energy and attention. When we feel stuck or weighed down by trauma, depression, anxiety, or systemic injustice, it’s especially hard to access our preferences, inner resources, and community. Our voice gets lost or neglected. This is my commitment to you in our work – to make space for your voice.

Thanks for visiting my site. Your struggles may have brought you to this website, but I believe that you are more than your "symptoms". We often find ourselves struggling with our own struggles rather than using our inherent resilience and strengths to continue traveling in the direction that holds deeper meaning for us.

I believe that effective therapy happens within the context of a safe and supportive relationship. Just as disruptive or dysfunctional relationships can cause damage and distress, a secure and supportive relationship can help repair and heal these wounds. With this in mind, I prioritize the therapeutic relationship in my work, emphasizing safety, trust, respect, and meaningful connection. I work with individuals, couples, and children, and have extensive experience working with the LGBTQI+ community. I have successfully treated individuals sufferring from Depression, Anxiety, and PTSD.

The therapeutic relationship is what drives growth and change in my work. I do not pretend to know what is going on with my clients before they tell me or believe that I know more about their experience than they do. Getting to know my clients is the most important part of my job. Through getting to know them, we create an opportunity for the individual to externally process what often has only been expressed in their own mind, creating space for exploration and a conversation. I do not know what is best for my clients, but I do believe that together we can illuminate a path to experiencing all life has to offer.

Together we can uncover what is going on under the surface so we can deal with the origin of your challenges. We'll work to heal your wounds, discover your true and authentic self, find freedom from emotional bondage, and increase your choice over patterns and behaviors that have been complicating your life and relationships.

Now is a trying time for almost everyone, and if you have a trauma background what's coming up in the current environment may be reminiscent of the stress, isolation, and fear induced by early childhood experiences. You don't have to handle this alone, and with clinically tested techniques to regulate the mind and body, it's POSSIBLE to shift from a place of disempowerment to strength.

Jungian Therapists

How does Jungian therapy work?

Jungian therapy, also called analytical psychology, focuses on a patient’s inner experiences and unconscious mind. Exploring a person’s unconscious mind can be achieved through several means, including the analysis of memories and dreams, and through physical exercises, such as art, dance, and word association.

How long does Jungian therapy last?

Jungian therapy is an intensive treatment type. Because its goal is to understand a person as a whole, including the unconscious aspects of them, treatment can range from months to years. Since patients learn the theory behind Jungian therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have completed.

Is Jungian therapy effective?

According to studies, many patients find success with Jungian therapy, and the century-old treatment has a devoted following. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving relationships, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. Improvements in problem areas seem to continue even after the end of Jungian therapy, as people are able to continue working on themselves using the tools they’ve learned during the treatment.

Is Jungian therapy evidence-based?

Jungian therapy is theory-based, derived from the theories of Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist often called one of the fathers of psychology, along with Sigmund Freud. Jung developed his theories from observing the problems of patients, and developed many theories of how the mind works. Subsequent psychological research has determined that Jungian therapy can lead to significant improvement in most patients.
