Your issues, needs, and goals might include how to find balance in daily life, resolving
relationship
or family conflicts, questioning gender, processing trauma, or how to best navigate any of life's transitions. I allow what comes up in the room to guide how we will work together--which might mean we look at and process the past, or stay in the here-and-now, or a combination of both. I approach each client anew, drawing on a number of modalities, with the understanding that each person's needs are unique.

We all need to be seen & witnessed. Whatever it is that feels too hard—be it exploring identity, navigating attachment wounds, combating intrusive thoughts, or processing the collective grief in the world—one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself is dedicated time just for you & your needs. I would be honored to walk with you on your path. For me, therapy is relational. The human on the other side of the room (or screen) should feel like precisely that: a human! Together, we will create a container in which you can authentically examine your relationships with others as well as the pivotal
relationship
to self.

I use the
relationship
between therapist and client for client centered growth.
I offer in person, outdoor garden sessions and do phone when needed. I laugh a lot with my clients and even though sometimes the work can be painful, my clients usually begin to feel better and keep coming. I work well with creative people, BIPOC, and across the spectrums of straight to LBGTQ - and mono to poly. With specializations in Psychoanalytic, and Jungian therapy, I also draw on mindfulness and narrative approaches to help you thrive. I collaborate with your highest functioning self to support your confused, critical, scared young parts. The psyche is resilient and thrives on love and therapeutic attention.

Are you ready to work at a deeper level?
Patients start healing when they are in a position to face themselves. For this, I am available to listen very carefully to what my patients say because experience and training have taught me that it is the patient's words which must lead the way. The focus is on the patient's speech, often on dreams, in order to guide an experience, which wants to restore meaning to the symptoms and thereby allow for healing.

Working through depression, anxiety, grief, family stressors, loneliness,
relationship
issues, career dilemmas, chronic/terminal illnesses, aging, and a desire for growth/self-exploration are areas with which I can help.
Why do people seek therapy? They want to feel better. They want to improve their relationships. They want support in times of loss and transition. A search for insight and personal growth are also reasons. With over 25 years of clinical experience I have an approach that would help you find answer to these issues. Each person brings a unique story to therapy, and I draw from various therapeutic processes utilizing insight, cognitive behavioral and mindfulness techniques to help them gain insight and feel better about their life.

People enter into therapy for many reasons. Often the catalyst is difficulty with a
relationship
, a job, or a way of coping. Anxiety and depression can provide the stimulus to seek help. When they intrude into everyday waking consciousness they are indicators that something is out of balance and needs to be addressed. Areas of particular interest within my practice are parent-child difficulties, especially the early stages of parenting; relationships; finding one's voice and inner authority; creativity; grief and loss; and the struggle to live one's own life.

My professional experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults as individuals, as well as with
couples
and families.
My passion is psychological healing and growth. I believe everyone has the innate potential to live full, satisfying, and self-actualizing lives with hope, joy, and meaning. I want to help people change and grow in an environment that is open, safe, and non-judgmental. Compassion and authenticity will help people grow and feel whole. I primarily use an integrative approach, incorporating multiple therapeutic approaches and drawing on a variety of techniques and interventions as needed. I, however, gain my principal inspiration from solution-focused and humanistic modalities.

I strongly believe in having a collaborative therapeutic
relationship
with clients and showing them genuineness, empathy, and appropriate humor.
Hello and welcome! I view mental health and its importance the same way that I view getting my car serviced; sometimes you go in just for a tune up and other times it requires more serious work. Either way, the service is beneficial and things start working a lot smoother afterwards. My goal is to create an environment that is safe and non-judgemental so clients feel comfortable disclosing whatever is on their hearts and minds. Clients come to me with a variety of concerns/needs ranging from
relationship
issues, stress, anxiety to simply needing a sounding board. Whatever the concern may be, you are welcome.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist in CA (PSY27345) and NM (PSY20230020), providing individual or group psychotherapy and consultation. Therapy is Relational. I find that the exploration of our interpersonal relationships, including the
relationship
between the therapist and client, can help to overcome internal conflicts we face in our lives. Furthermore I believe psychotherapy is a collaborative process which brings something unique to each patient-therapist
relationship
. Working together, we can uncover your personal needs, in real time, to better understand how to express yourself in your everyday life.

This applies to
couples
and individuals.
We often forget that our first experience of the world is a shared one; that by nature we are relational beings. Which is why therapy can be so powerful. My job is to help you move away from the things that no longer work (perhaps never did), and toward a preferred way of being. Our process together is one of discovery & transformation, and honors both what you are and what you are becoming. You and I will collaborate to create an environment that is safe and supportive (I don't do that alone -- only you know what is safe). Through compassion & curiosity, our therapy will find new narratives and make meaning of old ones.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
