Thank you for taking a moment to read about me and my work. My approach uses insight and depth psychotherapy combined with Mindfulness within a framework of awareness of the body. When our living process becomes stuck, therapy can move it forward. If you feel stuck in repetitive behaviors, painful feelings, and recurring anxious thoughts, I want to help you to identify how you are bogged down, so you can feel better. I can help to re-focus a sense of purpose...a way to step into your life more completely. This may include taking action if feeling adrift, or bringing clarity to a
relationship

We all have experienced times when we've felt frustrated, stuck, or dissatisfied with our lives and what we want or how to move forward. While some clients are looking for immediate solutions, others want to explore the “why” behind it all. I believe we can focus on both. We'll move at your pace to understand what isn't working and why. My goal is to help you learn ways to tackle life's challenges, slow down, and feel more connected with your emotions. I'm also very passionate about helping
couples
seeking to improve their communication and reduce conflict leading to increased intimacy and connection.

Life is challenging enough without being hampered by painful or unpleasant thoughts, feelings or memories. I have been in private practice since 1990, helping people overcome the emotional obstacles that prevent them from living full and satisfying lives. These obstacles include: low self-esteem, difficulty relating to others,
relationship
problems, unresolved grief, immobilizing anxiety, unresolved issues from childhood, maladaptive ways of coping with stress etc.. I see adults only and do not do couple's therapy. When contacting me, please briefly state what you need help with, and, your insurance, if planning to use it.

Scanning through this website trying to discern which therapist will be a good fit from a photograph and a blurb is tricky and also a sign of the times. Ideally less time is spent searching the web for answers and more can be spent with a person whose sole intention is to understand the complexities of your point of view, your experiences and facilitate you getting to where you want to go, while walking right along side you. Depression, anxiety, trauma, distorted
relationship
with food, difficulty being productive; these are all areas I feel confident I can help you with.

My foundation in, attachment, trauma, and family dynamics allows me to
partner
with you, adapt my clinical expertise to meet your individual needs, and hold a safe place for you to discover your truest potential.
Do you feel disconnected from living a vibrant and engaged life? Do the simplest tasks stand before you like an ocean? Are relationships a source of emotional pain in your life? Our ability to make sense of our emotional experiences can be the key to releasing emotional pain and suffering. Often times, our own cultural perceptions of mental health can prevent us from seeking the help that we need. My personal and professional experiences have influenced my understanding of the value of promoting mental health and how simple changes can have a profound effect on our lives.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
