Building, expanding, & healing a family takes time, work, & support. Through a direct relational approach and empathy development, we will explore what may be triggered by your romantic relationship or the barriers between your mother/daughter relationship so that you may love & connect with more compassion & understanding. Through mindfulness, we will hold space for your anticipation of bringing your little one into the world and your ever-changing experience through pregnancy. Through body awareness & building an intentional self care practice, we will navigate the necessary care and support needed through your postpartum journey.

I utilize a range of modalities, including
attachment-based
reparative approaches & EMDR, to help you create a fulfilling life that is more than the sum of what happened to you.
Hi! I'm Rebeks (they/them) - a transmasculine nonbinary therapist who specializes in trauma, LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapy, and life with chronic illness, disability, college/academia, and affirmative approaches to neurodiversity such as Autism, ADHD, and OCD. I love working with folx in the "gray spaces" of identity who aren't quite sure they are (fill in the blank) enough. My approach to therapy is to provide solidity and a sense of containment to enable the deeper healing-work — especially for those with complex trauma, dissociation and early attachment ruptures.

My therapeutic approach mainly focuses on helping my clients identify their strengths to help alleviate anxiety, depression, and trauma. I am a firm believer that our childhood experiences contribute to our beliefs, behavioral patterns, and selecting a romantic partner. Therapy is a process! To allow ourselves to be intimate and vulnerable with someone about our experiences and trauma can be daunting. As a therapist, it is my goal to help validate, create a safe environment and help understand aspects of lived experiences.

People are complex and life can be very challenging. The way we process and live our lives, especially the way in which we respond to life's difficult challenges, is often informed by painful experiences from our past, and unresolved issues. I will help you find the inner resources you need to recover, understand yourself better, and create the changes that will improve your well being. We all have the potential to heal, grow, and be successful in our lives. It is this potential that provides hope for all of us to overcome pain and adversity.

Life is full of change, sometimes self-imposed and sometimes out of our control. During times of reflection and transition we find ourselves struggling to make sense of our lives and the world around us. My interests are in working with clients using an eclectic, psychotherapeutic approach to find a more authentic path of growth and personal expression. I believe developing a stronger and clearer sense of one's core values and identity can help in moving through life's ups and downs. I enjoy working with adults of all ages, ethnicities, and sexual orientations.

The past can get in the way of living the life you truly desire. This can feel like a deep sense of unworthiness or a fear of being who you really are and asking for what you really want. Do you get lost in worrying? Or caught in the same patterns not knowing how to break the cycle? Instead of feeling calm and joy, you find yourself emotionally spiraling, judging and trying to gain control of every moment. It can be hard to trust that things are going to be ok or that you will be able to handle it if things are not ok.

My approach is nurturing, collaborative, and client-centered. As an Asian immigrant, I recognize and appreciate how culture can be a powerful force that influences the way we think and shapes the way we understand ourselves, our emotions, and our life circumstances. Our work together will involve strategies that will help you gain awareness, knowledge, and skills to help improve your life in a manner that is consistent with your personal values and life experiences.

While we are given instruction on how to drive, how to work, etc., we are rarely given an education on how to cope with the stressors of our daily lives. Through understanding, validation, and support, I help my clients achieve their full potential. By nurturing insight and providing consistent support, my clients have the opportunity to work at their own pace and deal with issues that they feel are preventing them from moving forward. In my practice, I try to provide both emotional support and tools that can be used beyond the therapy session.

You are enough. Past experiences may have created a negative inner voice undercutting your self-worth and capacity for joy. People pleasing and perfectionism may have left you needing to do or be more, unable to enjoy the present. We can work together in a secure and non-judgmental space to rewrite your narrative and silence the self-talk. We will identify your own needs and prioritize them, allowing you to be present with grace and acceptance as you navigate healing past wounds or face life's challenges. Therapy will empower you to recognize your intrinsic strengths, forging a new path toward a life of meaning and fulfillment.

I help stressed-out, underperforming, or 'just plain exhausted' athletes & professionals, bounce back from performance slumps, anxiety, self-doubt, imposter syndrome, depression & burnout. My mission is to combine the powerful tools of traditional psychotherapy with sports performance psych, somatic, movement and mindfulness practices and make them accessible to the peak performers, the over-achievers, and the ‘I dont have time for that stuff, I’ve got training to do’ crew. No stuffy therapy office to visit, no long wait times, just plenty of real talk, tons of fresh perspective, and tangible performance results.

We all need a supportive and safe person to talk to, both when things are going well, and when life feels challenging. A therapist can help guide and support you through life's ups and downs. I specialize in college mental health, and enjoy helping young adults navigate life transitions. I also have experience working with survivors of trauma, and am particularly passionate about helping people work through developmental and childhood trauma.

Do you find it hard to shake feelings of emptiness? Perhaps you are stricken with a grief that you don’t quite understand. Do you feel trapped by a nagging feeling of being “broken” or an “outsider”, like a stranger in your own skin? Maybe you are privately struggling with unrelenting loneliness and at the same time find it hard to trust others. People may tell you that you had a fine childhood, but it doesn’t mean that you didn’t face difficulty and endure trauma. Everyone experiences life uniquely. Our past––and how we each process it––can impact our present and impair our ability to function with resilience and ease.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
