What are you experiencing right now? Are you feeling emotionally overwhelmed, unheard, or misunderstood? Maybe you feel inadequate, incomplete, numb, or blocked by anxiety or fear. With me, therapy can be a safe space to be seen, heard, and validated. Most of us want to feel better about ourselves and our closest relationships. I help individuals, couples, and families learn to listen more effectively to themselves and each other.

Your throat feels restricted, your chest is heavy, and it hurts to breathe. Trauma doesn’t just live in the mind—it takes up space in the body, shaping how you move, how you connect, and how safe you feel in your own skin. Maybe you drank or used again. Maybe you stopped taking your medication, telling yourself it will be different this time. Maybe you’re just exhausted from carrying it all. Either way, you are ready to dive in, to face what has been waiting to be seen. No story is too much, no experience too messy, and no one is beyond the reach of care.

Life can feel overwhelming and unmanageable at times. Often those feelings can seep into your relationships and daily life, creating conflict and confusion. You can begin to question your worth and value to yourself and others, and you can begin to see everything through the lens of those feelings. The ways in which you try to cope with those feelings are often linked to experiences in your past, and they are likely keeping you from creating the fulfilling and meaningful present you desperately want.

We’re finding ourselves living in a new world. We’ve changed and the culture has changed. The big questions arise: How do I ground myself and move forward? Where can I find meaning? How do I enliven myself? We are all grieving, mourning lost friends, past relationships, illusions of safety, control and predictability, opportunities gone that will never return. Are you sadder? Sadder and wiser but more adrift? Are past traumas holding you back? Right now is the time to get more support as you grapple your life's meaning and purpose and move forward with greater self-compassion

Although addiction and dual-diagnosis are my areas of specialty, I work with clients struggling with any form of mental illness and suffering in life. By working with individuals, couples, and families, I help to relieve suffering and position clients to thrive in ways they never before imagined possible, such as actualizing full potential and dreams in careers, relationships, and life. With every client, my goal is to help both the client and their family achieve health and wellbeing, while living a life full of meaning, purpose, and passion.

Often times we get stuck in patterns related to our thoughts or behaviors that get in the way of us getting to where we want to go. These patterns can worsen symptoms of anxiety, depression and at times, interfere with our relationships and overarching goals. Through a collaborative approach, I aim at helping you explore your own motivation to take meaningful steps in creating the life you want to live by examining these patterns.

I specialize in working with clients who experience chronic pain, anxiety and trauma. If you are struggling with chronic pain, I empathize with your frustration and despair. You may have seen countless doctors and practitioners, desperate for answers and symptom reduction. You may have looping fearful thoughts saying "Is there still hope that I can feel better?" There is hope! Pain and symptom are danger signals from our brain to our bodies. Our brains are capable of turning off signals of danger, which means that we can reduce and even eliminate pain!

Life is challenging enough without being hampered by painful or unpleasant thoughts, feelings or memories. I have been in private practice since 1990, helping people overcome the emotional obstacles that prevent them from living full and satisfying lives. These obstacles include: low self-esteem, difficulty relating to others, relationship problems, unresolved grief, immobilizing anxiety, unresolved issues from childhood, maladaptive ways of coping with stress etc.. I see adults only and do not do couple's therapy. When contacting me, please briefly state what you need help with, and, your insurance, if planning to use it.

Sometimes, life can be a bit daunting. Between big life decisions, tragedies, and even days when nothing seems to go right, it's easy to get down, anxious, and feel overwhelmed. I work with adults and adolescents who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, life's transitions, or need a space of their own to share openly free from bias or judgement.

I'm Cassandra, a licensed marriage and family therapist. I've worked with people struggling with relationship issues, women's issues, infertility, marital/pre-marital issues, spirituality, and more. My ideal client is someone who is struggling with knowing what to do next. They are likely overwhelmed but are also tired of inaction and are trying to find a way out of the mess. My top modalities are CBT, motivational interviewing, and strengths-based therapy. I also like to practice faith-based counseling but that is something that a client would have to request.

Feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or burdened by the many curveballs life throws at you? You're not alone, a fully lived life inevitably includes difficult experiences which can lead to emotional distress, intrusive thoughts, or avoidance. Feelings of anxiety and depression can seem like they own us and control our lives, but they don't have to. Rather than be a victim of our feelings we can learn to manage our experience of living with them instead of numbing out with Netflix binges or substance use. We can get back in the driver's seat of our life's journey and start living our best lives!

Imagine a world where you like who you truly are at the core. A world where you no longer worry about the judgement of others. This is that door. I invite you to walk though it together. When you're tired of being tired and have tried other options that seem to come back to the same end, this is the beginning of something different. This is the chance to move through your fear of abandonment and rejection, and the chance to begin to lead your authentic life. My intention is to walk with you on the journey of knowing yourself. I strongly believe in open curiosity paired with synergy which is a bedrock to a trust-based relationship.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
