It is not easy to ask for help. I believe that in order to heal and move forward in our lives, we need to be able to dig deep and figure out what is holding us back. While this can be challenging and at times uncomfortable, it is not something you need to do alone.

We all desire belonging and connection, but relationships can be hard! Many of us grow up without role models for the type of intimacy we desire. As a therapist, I hope to serve as a guide on your path towards healthier connections with yourself and those around you. I have a specialization in LGBTQ+ affirmative therapy. I work with relationships and individuals from a poly-affirming, kink-affirming, sex-positive framework to help dispel shame around sex and relationships outside of our hetero/cis/mononormative cultural standards.

Well, it's hit the fan! No matter how you slice it, life since March 2020 has been a doozy. You're in what seems like an never ending pandemic and the future is uncertain. Maybe you're excited the world is opening back up or you feel so stuck, confused, and overwhelmed you want to pull the covers over your head and secretly wish the world would go away. You want to do things differently but don't know HOW. Personal growth is cool but all the self-help books, online yoga workshops, and traditional talk therapy options are coming up short. Guess what? You've just struck gold. I'm here to offer you something different.

I want you to know what I already do -- you are enough. There is nothing broken about you. And looking for help (which you’re doing right now!) is evidence of your resilience. I believe that all people are inherently resourceful. So, the work that we’ll be doing together is (re)connecting you to your own inner resources, strengths, and values. We’ll co-create a space where you can explore your tender spots and deepest desires.

If you just keep racing on that career treadmill, surely you will get where you are meant to be, right? But does it sometimes feel like the dream is beyond your grasp? Maybe anxiety, depression, or something else that you don’t know what to call is tugging at you. Or changes have come along that disrupt your sense of wellbeing. Perhaps it feels overwhelming or unachievable to balance the competing interests of work, relationships, family, and your future goals. Or the goals you once had don’t quite fit anymore. And where does that leave you?

I believe in therapy that is collaborative and relational. Experiences of empathy, warmth, and attunement can be transformative and healing. Through exploring the challenges you are facing, relationship dynamics, and the nuanced language of your personal narrative, we will begin to identify unconscious methods of coping that may no longer be serving you. It is not until we recognize these deep parts of ourselves that we can begin to shift them.

Throughout life, we utilize tools we’ve learned along the way as coping methods. But what happens when these tools no longer work? How do we thrive and grow when our usual go-to solutions aren’t helping us? Or, even worse, are holding us back?I’m a licensed psychotherapist who believes strongly in the power to change our lives and achieve the outcomes we want. My personal and professional journeys have led me to work with others by combining experience, compassion, intuition and training. My style is interactive; you are very much a part of the journey and our work is tailored to fit your needs.

I believe in the strength that lies within all of us. Therapist and client begin a collaborative journey to find that strength. This journey takes us on a search of solutions to painful and problematic situations. My belief is the foundation from which I develop a therapeutic relationship with my clients. Together, we utilize our creativity to reshape, redefine, and develop a renewed sense of hope, purpose, and inner strength. I help my clients to understand, persevere, endure, and, ultimately, reclaim their will and sense of purpose. I help people find solutions to seemingly insurmountable problems.

How can I find a therapist in Los Feliz, Los Angeles?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
