These learnings informed my professional development as a therapist who employs an eclectic mix of treatment modalities such as Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral, Solution-Focused, and Strengths-Based.
If I had to choose three words that encapsulated my therapeutic approach, the words would be authenticity, compassion, and context. I learned how to deconstruct chaotic complex situations into digestible and palatable pieces. I learned to individualize and tailor interventions to meet students where they were at, not where I wanted them to be. I learned that no student, teacher, or classroom can optimally function in isolation, but rather thrive when choosing to operate interdependently.

I use a holistic approach, which incorporates rational emotive behavioral, cognitive behavioral, mindfulness, client centered, psychodynamic, and family systems therapy.
Therapy is all about self-acceptance and rediscovering yourself. In therapy with me, I will learn about you as you are your own self expert, you know yourself best. From there, we learn what has been working and not working for you. The relationship we build in therapy is essential to the effectiveness in your treatment. I also have experience in multicultural and biracial issues.

I offer depth-oriented treatment and work primarily from a psychodynamic lens.
Reaching out for help from a therapist can feel difficult or uncertain, but it also reveals the part of you that knows things can change. I believe that therapy can provide a place for healing, growth and creativity. Whether you are starting therapy for the first time or seeking a new approach, I will meet you with compassion and curiosity - working to create a space in which you feel safe and deeply heard. My style is warm, nonjudgmental and creative. Together we will find space and meaning for that which may not yet be fully felt or understood.

The key to emotional and psychological wellness lies in the balance of action and acceptance. The role of the therapist is to provide the client with enough unconditional support and practical strategies to attain this balance and achieve their goals. Because each client is different, I employ an integrated approach. I draw from person centered therapy, attachment/psychodynamic theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness.

You want to be more compassionate with yourself but struggle with constant self-criticism. The more you try to be kind to yourself, the more your inner voice judges your imperfections and mistakes. You feel defeated at resolving this internal battle, so you disassociate or become hyper-focused on productivity. Whether as a woman experiencing increased pregnancy and postpartum anxieties, anger, and betrayal by their body in birth traumas or as a couple having trouble navigating a new life stage that has surfaced disconnection and loneliness, you're looking for a way out of this cycle.

Accepting new Clients! You are finally ready to start therapy again and try something new. You have struggled to find a Therapist that you feel understands you and you place a lot of value on your mental health. You struggle with how you feel about yourself and feeling good in your relationships. You find yourself in a lot of one sided relationships and can't understand why. You've been in treatment before and are ready to continue working on yourself. Your friends don't seem to always understand and want you to desperately "move on". You often think the problem is you. But it isn't.

I see therapy as working towards a new improved and more empowered you. I view and treat my client as the expert in his/her life. I view myself as a facilitator of emotional healing and change. I provide a non-judgmental environment where my client can explore relationships and other aspects of his or her life and decide upon changes or adjustments he or she can implement. I hold the sacredness of authenticity, humaning alongside other humans. I focus on working with women, particularly women of color, to show up to the brutal, sweaty, and liberating work of tending to your life while challenging oppressive systems that want humans to stay small. Together, we examine trauma and pain with self-compassion, address avoidance, build vocabulary around emotions to expand your knowing, and work together to enrich relational bonds. I would love to hold space for you! I am licensed and available to work with residents of California and Washington.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
