I hold the sacredness of authenticity, humaning alongside other humans. I focus on working with women, particularly women of color, to show up to the brutal, sweaty, and liberating work of tending to your life while challenging oppressive systems that want humans to stay small. Together, we examine trauma and pain with self-compassion, address avoidance, build vocabulary around emotions to expand your knowing, and work together to enrich relational bonds. I would love to hold space for you!

There's a lot that could be said here, so I’ll keep it simple. I enjoy helping people like yourself sift through the complexity of life’s moments—locating the areas that sting with hurt, and finding ways to empower you towards a life marked by connection, rest, and freedom.

Everyone deserves a safe space to process and grow and I believe that safety can be in the therapy room. My clients describe me as calm, supportive, patient, and non-judgmental of their views, lifestyles, and aspirations. I love working with adults who are struggling with anxiety, relationship issues, depression, or life transitions and couples who are interested in deepening their relationship or getting through difficult phases. Social justice, intersectionalism, and anti-oppression values deeply inform my therapy work. I approach all client relationships from a place of cultural humility.

You seem like you have it all together on the outside, but inside you feel overwhelmed by the struggle to meet your own unrealistic expectations for yourself. You feel weighed down by shame and can’t shake the feeling that something is inherently wrong with you, or that certain parts of you are unacceptable or unforgivable. You try to numb away this feeling with distractions, which might look like addictive tendencies such as workaholism, entering into unhealthy relationships, and overuse of drugs and alcohol.

I like to be real with people. I find the best way to work with individuals and couples is to be present, ask the right questions, and give honest feedback. Whether you are coming to therapy for personal growth, a relationship or family issue, healing from loss, past trauma, or anything else, I want to explore who you are, how your life experiences have affected you and your relationships, ways in which those experiences keep replaying themselves, and how to get you out of the cycle. My approach is to provide a comfortable and real space to talk, explore and work on feeling better.

You feel a sense of urgency to meet expectations from others only to find yourself pushing your needs and boundaries to the side. You’re curious if, one day, you’ll be able to shift this pattern in your relationships, family dynamics, and career, but hesitate at the thought of rejection or being seen as a failure. This leaves you feeling resentful, tired, and burnt out. Therapy with me is an opportunity to work together where you can learn new patterns and identify your boundaries so that you can make decisions that are grounded in your values.

You’d say that you are observant, conscientious, and driven. You pride yourself in the successes you’ve had so far but struggle to take credit for them. You're hard on yourself but the thought of self-forgiveness or compassion brings up feelings of guilt. You're really good at being there for others and notice not receiving the same back. Self-doubt and loneliness keep you up at night and it bleeds into anxieties about work, relationships, and if you’re a parent, your kids.

You’re reflective, self-aware, and may be perceived as the “golden child,” within your family. On the inside, you carry the weight of feeling responsible for the emotions of others and struggle to trust yourself. You struggle with people-pleasing and fears of not being “good enough,” making it difficult to keep boundaries in your life and show up authentically in relationships, leading you to feel burnt out and depressed. You don’t have to continue feeling stuck in this space. You have the opportunity to develop self-compassion and set boundaries, allowing you to engage meaningfully with yourself, others, and your passions.

In entertainment, the arts, and freelance work isolation is an issue that's often unrecognized. The joy of working on something you deeply care about also comes with side-effects: Isolation, fear of rejection, motivation loss and lack of balance. It can be hard to find your footing and tap into your best self. This unique lifestyle offers the potential for fulfillment and also the potential for stagnancy and imbalance. It can be so overwhelming. You want to know when is the right time to follow your intuition. When do you trust people around you and your own voice that doubts you?

The clients that I work with come from all walks of life with at least 3 common goals: learn how to manage personal difficulties, increase moments of joy, & feel more empowered. I can assist you in reaching your goals with compassion, sensitivity, & levity. I like to provide space to support my clients and teach them how to tap into their inner strengths. I don't just listen, I interact and ask questions that facilitate the kind of treatment that is worth your time and money.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an approach to therapy that helps clients identify their emotions, learn to explore and experience them, to understand them and then to manage them. Emotionally Focused Therapy embraces the idea that emotions can be changed, first by arriving at or 'living' the maladaptive emotion (e.g. loss, fear or shame) in session, and then learning to transform it. Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples seeks to break the negative emotion cycles within relationships, emphasizing the importance of the attachment bond between couples, and how nurturing of the attachment bonds and an empathetic understanding of each others emotions can break the cycles.
