I work with people experiencing anxiety , depression, trauma, grief, loss, relationship issues, and life transitions.
You feel stuck, lonely, or burnt out. You find yourself feeling overwhelmed by life's demands and others' expectations. You imagine, what if you had options, an opportunity for relief, and permission to show up differently. People describe you as someone who's giving and thoughtful, so you're really good at putting the needs of others above your own. Many of my clients describe themselves as people pleasing, high achieving, and overthinking. Therapy with me is an opportunity to honor the parts of you which seek to feel good enough, self-compassionate, and at ease.

I help humans struggling with generational, cultural, and developmental trauma, as well as anxiety and depression.
I hold the sacredness of authenticity, humaning alongside other humans. I focus on working with women, particularly women of color, to show up to the brutal, sweaty, and liberating work of tending to your life while challenging oppressive systems that want humans to stay small. Together, we examine trauma and pain with self-compassion, address avoidance, build vocabulary around emotions to expand your knowing, and work together to enrich relational bonds. I would love to hold space for you!

Everyone deserves a safe space to process and grow and I believe that safety can be in the therapy room. My clients describe me as calm, supportive, patient, and non-judgmental of their views, lifestyles, and aspirations. I love working with adults who are struggling with anxiety , relationship issues, depression, or life transitions and couples who are interested in deepening their relationship or getting through difficult phases. Social justice, intersectionalism, and anti-oppression values deeply inform my therapy work. I approach all client relationships from a place of cultural humility.

EMDR is a powerful and effective tool to use with trauma, first responders, athletes, military personnel, performance anxiety , test anxiety , phobias, depression, and grief.
Are you feeling lost? Like you are stuck, and you do not see a way forward? It is a sinking feeling - but you are not alone. We all know what it feels like to be stuck. To face challenges, problems, and adversity. We feel alone and do not know how to find our way out. All the stress and uncertainty make it hard to sleep. It is impossible to focus at work, get things done, and our to-do list keeps getting longer and longer. Feeling stuck often means we feel overwhelmed and do not even know where to start.

My clients are high-functioning adults and couples who privately struggle with injured self-esteem, depression, anxiety , and resentment in their relationships. When, as children, we experience mistreatment or dysfunctional family dynamics, our nervous system gets impaired - making it harder for us to feel good about ourselves and harder to have fulfilling relationships. My job is to help your nervous system heal from the burdensome hurts of childhood injustices, so we can reduce any chronic feelings of self-doubt, inadequacy, and dissatisfaction. My work aims to promote emotional healing and relational transformation for my clients.

I have experience treating individuals suffering from PTSD, depression and anxiety .
Throughout our life journey we face many challenges. Sometimes we develop old wounds from the past that do not let us live the life we deserve. Those old wounds we call traumatic events. Traumatic events can develop from our childhood experiences, past relationships, employment, near death experiences or the death of a loved one. Traumatic events can continue to affect us in our daily life from experiencing nightmares to repeatedly viewing an unsettling image in our mind.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
